Veena you are right (in my opinion). We need to be treated with respect, but respect isn't to listen (or to give right to spoke) only to people thinking or behaving exactly like we do. Other issue is the use of some tool/ instrument in a not proper way: you can use a knife to cut your bread or...in another way. I suppose nobody is thinking, for this reason, to avoid to sell the knife, or to make more complex to buy a knife and so on. Tipically a law is put in place simply to condamn individual not proper use of a knife...

THANK YOU ARIHANT. BLOCKING IS NOT REQUIRED FOR US AS THE PERCENTAGE OF INTERNET SAVVY PEOPLE GOING THRO ALL THESE NETWORKS IS SMALL AND IT IS THE EDUCATED LOT WHO CAN ANALYSE THE PROS AND CONS AND TAKE RIGHT DECISIONS.

I agree with Veena and Sachin that blocking is not a solution. Let us understand that we cannot stop any one to think what he wants and do what he wants to. If blocking is one way, those who want to surpass that, have many more alternatives for the same. Lets stop this chase and peacefully control the mind and thoughts from this direction by some other means and I hope we all understand that is all takes birth from our minds. Let us try not to treat the symptom, but to eradicate the root cause.

Banning a site can't block flow of information - this age of communication has too many options to render blocking ineffective. Blocking sites and censoring media are usually resorted to by authoritarian regimes, But people who want to, do get around that. And in the process of censorship many uninvolved people are deprived.

Blocking is just a way of saying, "You cannot see this" (while a different set of people can). This just motivates the person to find means to access such information through whatever means possible. The objective is not met in any case, so why invest in it and go through unnecessary hassle.

After facebook, pakistan blocks youtube because of its "growing sacrilegious contents"(a group announced an competition for cartoons of Prophet Mohammed). Do you think that even India should do the same(there are so many groups against India)?

Blocking would infringe on the fundamental rights of any citizen, as it would interfere with his personal choices. But unfortunately this holds good only when the citizens are normal level headed people. But the ground realities are not so. We humans seem to be sprouting all sorts of weird and distorted minds who use these outlets for wrong purposes. So banning may become necessary,. But if only we could somehow censor inputs it would be far better.

Banning a site is not the only option and other alternatives also need to be explored. Additionally, banning a site is also not the only solution as it does not still solve the problem. However, if a site is deliberately disseminating false information and focused on false propaganda, then banning the site may reduce the mis-information campaign to a certain extent....

Keeping the misuse of this in mind I am in the favour of blocking. Increasing threats, so many unwanted things available on it and leaving bad message are also another reason can be for blocking it.
