In a blind test unbranded entities fare better than branded entities .  I market a detergent called Kite and dish wash bar called Sabena . Kite is priced 1/4 of a super brand and performs equally well but there are no takers since big players have left very little space . I tried Kite with my friends at Dhobi Khana who have found the product too good not only for its whitening power but it consumes less water because of improved enzymes . Similary my friends at hotels and restaurants find Sabena Dish Wash Bar a better performer with a lower price tag .  " Mukhabala Humse Kharoge  -  HUL " .

It is depend upon person to person because I am purchasing amul or local ice-cream, amul or local chocolate. Anyway your point is right. Nobody cares for Indian products.

In a country of more than hundred million there is only one chocolate brand "Cadbury's" , one health drink "Horlciks" and one dominating ice cream "Kwality Walls " .  Brand wars backed by money power.

I wouldn't say that branding is a myth and you can't completely dismiss branding. That's just one situation where branding was irrelevant or less needed. Every situation, product or service is different and branding is needed.

It just all depends on the situation, product or services. It's all in how well you strategically plan things and do your marketing. Branding is still important.

I am not agreeing with this statement because customer prefer to buy quality product only brand with quality in all aspect will survive only in this competitive world. Only money power cannot make a good brand

No it is not only money but the quality matters. Even though they rule the market they give people good products at reasonable costs.....

Thats why they are still on the top for years !!!!
