BSNL will treat all long-distance calls from its fixed-line network to landline numbers across the country as local calls as the erstwhile state monopoly looks to breathe life into its non-mobile business, which continues to be its largest revenue earner.

From Wednesday, all 27 million landline customers of the loss-making telecom company can access this facility and not pay STD charges when calling any landline in the country, a move that is seen by many industry watchers as the first step towards doing away with a separate slab for long distance tariffs.

What do you think guys will this revive landline phones in India?

I say partially YES. This move certainly helps them in retaining the existing customers to some extent. With the compelling mobile market and day to day dip in plans, one will not be ready to take the land line phones against mobile device

The Bsnl is back with some thing new. They have come out with the new Std tariff plan which would be a huge hit. As we see that till date there are Bsnl landline phones which are used. Even though the mobile phones had brought down the landline sales it was not much affected. With this new plan introduced by Bsnl. People will start using the landlines.

Bsnl should have done this long time back as we see that the user's of mobiles are increasing day to day. In rural area's also today people prefer to use a mobile phone rather than a landline because a mobile is more convenient and could be carried any where.
