Property builders are reconciling to the fact that they have all along been targeting the top-end of the pyramid, but now they have started focusing on the affordable or the bottom of the pyramid (BoP) segment. According to the National Urban Housing and Habitat Policy, 2007, which says it should lay special emphasis on the provision of social housing for economically weaker section (EWS) or low income group (LIG) categories so that they are fully integrated into the mainstream of ecologically well-balanced urban development. Will this tapping help the builders and people.

They should go for it, only under some scheme or for other benefits, otherwise builders are not at all interested in low budget housing schemes.

BoP market in housing is huge compared to the ToP. It is said that the demand for slum rehabilitation dwelling and pavement dwellers have increased in the last three years. So the construction of infrastructures for the people in the BoP will work out well and also help india to rise .

Builders in market build for profit.They have to sustain a lot in terms of establishment .Over and above make profit.

What will be the State of the building an EWS or LIG member get? BoP cannot shell down overheads and profit to builders. if they can they will not come under BoP.

Both sides cannot profit in this venture. If  it is profit on builder's side then  it will be a below par dwelling for the buyer.If its a dewllblw building for the buyer ,builder cannot profit.

There cannot be a business in this segment.
