YES...withouht using sms if we use calling a person may solve many problems be through sms we cannot express our feelings ideas but instead of sms if we cALL we can express the matters that we want to say

No, SMS is better than call. It not only saves money but also avoids unnecessary disturbance in odd times which a call does...

Yeah, Jiks. Why did they even bother inventing SMS, no? You've stated it like a proper 'kuen ka mendak'. Do you know what it costs to call / SMS in other countries? India didn't invent 'mobile' (cellular telephony)! But, thanks to TRAI, our population benefits due to it's pricing policies. Even then, "agar tumhe call karna zyaada pasand hai, toh beshaq, call kijiye"

I would any day be comfortable picking up my phone and calling a  person rather than wasting time typing the message using those tiny buttons on the phone...

Calling up a person reduces back n forth messaging trying to understand what is being said or asked. Calling is as good as talking face to face with a person.

Now a days, calling charges has reduced a lot. Little higher than SMS charge. I don't think it will cost much if we call instead of doing SMS. Also, we cannot express everything in SMS which we can in calls. The most popular SMS is "call me back"...

If the call and SMS charge same for a subscriber,then going for call is the best option. However,as I told in my earlier comment itself,both these features have their own purposes. For example, to convey my account number or name in a crowded market, I prefer sending the SMS than call though the call is cheaper.Again,I do not agree with jiks's comment where he said that we can't express the ideas through SMS. A 160 character SMS with options for inserting special symbols is good enough to express any thing.

Both Call and SMS have different purposesI do not agree with your say that we can't express our feelings/ideas through SMS.This being the case,we may not need the SMS option at all. Starting from medium handsets to high-end handsets, all have enough options to insert the expressions between the SMS text.If the person is not good in expressing the feel,then it's not the fault of that feature.

All of us agree with the fact that SMS remains as a best medium to convey small peace of information to save on call costs. We also know that a SMS has a store and forward principle unlike call where you don't know that someone has called you until and unless you receive the missed call alert in case of network congestions. There are many advantages of SMS over call. Also,out of the outgoing calls made, only 35% are successful as per the study.Just think again
