OF COURSE...THE MEANING of Salesperson is often confused with a person selling particular product or service(merchandise). If you look into dictionary ,you will come up terms such as exchange of value ,persuasion, influence synonymous with Selling.

If Mr Obama, an African-American, can become the First Black President of the USA, everything is possible.

But Vivek/ Shital ... what is the core issue here ?

These two are different streams : In to-day's scenerio, one is to study/ learn/ practice and become a Fellow of his/ her profession. Why an abrupt change of profession ?

As has been said : Yes, possible.

The skill set required for marketing function (e.g. outgoing nature) is different from that for the HR function (e.g. behavioral sensitivity). To the extent that the skill sets coincide a marketing person can develop and practice HR successfully. But the operative word is 'can'. Maybe s/he can't if they do not have the skills necessary for the HR function exclusively.

No..Marketing is selling a product. HR is buying a product. The functions are completely different.

Marketing person can also be HR professionals as they have to interact with lots of people in their job and have to fulfill their needs. If we ask that they can really satisfy an employee of the company yes to some extent but when we talk about behavioural science in that case they are going to lack bcoz none of the marketing professionals deal with behaviour of a person so its become quite difficult for them to handle the situation were behaviour is involved................

Not necessarily.

A marketing person is ultimately in the business of selling , either products or services. The attributes necessary to perform this job well are :

1.  Full knowledge of the product / service one is selling

2.  Full knowledge of what the customer needs or is looking for or can benefit from

A HR person , on the other hand , is not selling anything. He is there to understand the organizational requirements , understand the employees' desires , and try to marry the two. It is not enough to be just a marketing person. You need to have a knowledge of legalities , since you will need to deal with government authorities , local communities ; you also need to have foresight , vision , to anticipate trends and take preventive measures.

Handling a unionized workforce of thousands is in itself a full-blown responsibility , which a marketing person never comes across in his career.

Any individual can perform another role provided he is having the skills and competency for the role. A person specializing in the marketing area can focus on the HR area as there are similar activities that are performed. In marketing, the customer is the focus and in HR the internal customer - the employees are the focus....

Ultimately, it depends on the individual - If he has the skills, competence and the confidence to do a different role, he can do it, otherwise he will find it difficult to execute the activities.....
