Can A.R. Rahman win the oscar for the 2nd time consecutive??

When you are Rahman, the bridge between failure and success is rather short. Just a couple of days ago, the master composer was answering questions about missing the Golden Globe award for Best Original Score (Motion Picture) for Danny Boyle's “127 Hours”. With news about his twin nomination to the Oscars (Best Song along with Dido and Rollo Armstrong and Best Original Score for “If I Rise”), it's celebration time again for Rahman.

Getting nominated for the awards itself is a fabulous feeling. Winning is good too but, in the history of the awards, except possibly once, nobody has won it twice in a row....Can A.R. Rahman win the oscar for the 2nd time consecutive?

Yes....AR Rahman's music is riveting. "If I Rise" is brilliant in particular in the movie 127 hours....just watched this movie yesterday... Danny Boyle tells one of the most horrifying survival stories in the most understated manner ever.  '127 Hours' is based on the real-life, awe-inspiring story of mountain climber Aron Ralston who was trapped under a boulder while canyoneering for five days! How Aron kept himself from losing hope in those most gruelling five days of his life forms the story....the music is really good even if there is not much scope for background score in the movie, even then Rahman excels here....
