It’s the Money that speaks in US. The moment the Gamers see the stash and hear the crunch of the $, they’ll make sure Cricket jives, as a cult or as a white collar game.

America is a multicultural society, and a large chunk of its population consists of people from cricket playing nations. The trend can start positively from such a segment. Remember, Canada was a venue to a few international matches, and crowd was present in full capacity. Moreover, Americans are an open society, ready to accept multicultural trends and traditions. Also, World's leading economy will soon find investors in a money minting sport. Cricket is going to be a popular game, if not craze in America in the next ten years

Yes, T20 should be able to make inroads, particularly if Lalit Modi can get his show with the cheerleaders and all, to the US. Would be too much to expect it to replace baseball in their national affections, but the large Indian (non-red), and Pak population would support.

Yes why not. As long as the format includes cheerleaders, water boys and mascots and makes you hit couple of beers on a game. After all it would be couple of yankees passing through adolescence. If pokemon does it so can cricket. Adieu M.C.C we are in the age of flattened baseball bats and the home run is indeed a boundary. We are live from super bowl and no sir back seat mating after the game is politically incorrect these days

Definetely yes.. .... & it will have more to do with lucrative business potential which IPL will offer rather than appreciation & enjoyment of actual gamesmanship of cricket. We should be ready to see more girls, more skin show & more boozing which will be occupying higher %age of on-screen time than exploits of Sachin Tendulkar Or other players of his stature. Americans excel in monetization of each & every facet of life & hosting of IPL will provide them enough option to exploit business opportunities from Indian Diaspora which among the wealthiest emigrant community, has started asserting itself in political arena & which is more than eager to show off itself as fashionable & trendy. Hosting of IPL in America will provide Indians all of such opportunity in a very quick span of time

NO. NEVER. Yanks are practical and sensible. The employers are "tough". Any thing outward is not on office time or on loss of office time. No one will watch cricket in the USA if they have to pay for both the ticket and the days salary

Steven your correct in US basketball and soccer are rooted in their culture. It is difficult to change and they even don't show interest in cricket. If at all people accept it also, there will be no word of buzz among them. Thanks.....

Games like cricket require a certain cultural milieu to flourish. The original format of test matches required a lot of time and leisurely pace to play. Britishers had these advantages and therefore played a lot of cricket and also bequeathed the game to their subjects. So today most Commonwealth nations play cricket and play it well. US was also a colony but failed to pick up that trait as it developed (deliberately, it seems, in hindsight) a different sort of culture hence plays aggressive, competitive games like baseball. Probably these games suit their cultural inclinations better.. Just a thought... seems plausible to me...

It will take years and years. Having a world class national team would help, but most sports in America start as children. Soccer is very popular among children, but still does not gain much attention at the professional level.

Baseball, basketball, rugby are so deep rooted in US mindset that unless you see cricket being liked at the kids level, it cannot create any buzz. I agree with one of the statements in the other ideas. Cricket is far from gaining a "CULT" status.

Well, on second thoughts, the NRSA (Non-Resident, South Asian) Population might form a chunk of Cricket Fans and encourage short-form of cricket (i.e. 20:20 or ODIs), and may slowly bring in some Native Americans as a floating fans. With such a long history of Cricket in India and with equally long Film Industry, we could come out with only One Cricket based movie (Lagaan), as apposed to the scores of 'base-ball' based movies or proud mention of the association with it by the leading actors in innumerable Hollywood movies.

I completely agree with Tony!! If you see the baseball films that Hollywood has produced with Robert De Niro, Kevin Costner and who have you, you will notice that in US baseball, basketball and American football are CULT games with people (men and women alike) follow their idols like gods!! Cricket in its 2020 form would gain some moments of popularity but may not be able to achieve the CULT status!
