yes, INDIA can be a zero curruption country. All we need is efforts from every segment of society. Today only I asked a DELHI POLICE constable about his income coming from bribe. He said it proudly that he earns around Rs. 10000 every month apart from salary through bribes. Now what we have to say about it? He is getting all that money from us only. Whenever a policeman stops us for any voilation of rule, we are the first one to say "kuch le de kar lo janab". Why we want to save a few bucks today rather than doing an effort to stop or atleast lower down the corruption level. Is there any helpline where we can file a complaint against the government official asking for a bribe? We need the answers for such questions. We all say no to corruption but what happens when it comes to self? I want to know these ansers. Please help me in overcoming the doubts of mine...................

Yogesh I don't think India will be a zero corruption country but it can reduce its corruption. Because you cannot expect everyone to be perfect. If the corruption is reduced in government offices the rate will reduce. For that first people should stop giving bribe and should not encourage others too. This will help to reduce corruption but not completely.

Thanks...

Yes Mr. Yogesh Panchal , I support you. And here is the link where i searched from google for registering complaints.

http://hindustan.net/forums/index.php

Corruption is a sort of Cancer where we are not aware of it until it comes out as a big problem. I have a few reasons for corruption.

1.Govt. Job is permanent for Employees, so they need not worry about the work.

2.Do they work or not, they get salary every month on time.

3.In Tamil, there is a nice saying "Pasu thol porthiya Puli" means "a tiger in face of cow". Likewise, in the name of govt. job they do all illegal and the work against law. Even though they get paid.

The society also the cause for Corruption. To finish the work for him in minimum time for their convenience they use to give money to the govt officials. If a man gives definitely the other wont refuse. We are paying for the work which is actually his duty to accomplish for us. We have already paid him in name of Tax. Why we doing it again? The awareness should start from us.

>Stop giving money to Beggars.

>Give correct changes to conductor while collecting ticket from him.

>Don't pay more than what you said to pay.For eg: Tips for bearers in hotels, black tickets in Theatres.

>Don't assign your job to others. Do it yourself so that you can aware of pros and cons of it.

>Pay the Tax by time and follow the rules.

If everyone starts following above stated, let see who dares to ask and give BRIBE. DON'T GIVE A THREAD GAP FOR CORRUPTION. Let all to live in Uncorrupted INDIA.

I can not say about others but i can say that yes i will never bribe anyone to favour me in any problematic situation. And I think if every one of us say so then There is a scope for India becoming a zero corruption country, some day. So let's all say so in our hearts.....

hey guys i support everyone whether u guys have suppoeted d argument or not bt the spirit should alwys be in optimism.

Thats how we need to do to improvise the situation. May be we say that its possible only when we all decide not to be a part of this thing called corruption.

But saying is not enough we have t implement the same. And I know we all would love to see our country zero corruption and on the top of the world.

Nothing is hypothetical unless we try. I am determined that I will not take any part in this thing but thats not enough buddy. We have to tell others too to be a pat of it. tell them the merits and demerits and I am sure we will succeed one day or the other. When Indian Natinal Congress demanded for "POORNA SWARAJ", they also laughed and said its hypothetical and whats the scenario today. We are independent from their clutches. The same thing we demand today. Just the end of corruption and we will succeed in that too.

Success depends on the type of corrupt people that will be targeted in the action. One is a person whose income IS the bribe since the salary is short for his needs AND for supporting the process of upgrading the standard of living. The other is the person who needs to support his lifestyle, status & power. The prior needs support from many sources to where as the next needs to be PRACTICALLY punished and boycotted. Its easy to catch the prior as he does not have power to protect himself where as the next has power to digest his bribe. BUT the next lives on the existence of the prior by keeping him bribed, and never allow to stabilize in life. Solution is obvious to each. Help the prior and the next will dies his own death.

BUT I don't know why I am writing this here?? Who is listening???

Yes  zero corruption possible?why not?

DO ordinary public in almost all developed countries pay bribe to Govt officials? If pays what happens?

Can we not by act of parliament  stop approaching judiciary for cases of bribe giving and bribe taking?

What can happen if someone is implicate d by false charge? what about investigative agency?

Why Sashi tharoor resigned? Because he is educated won moral responsibility? Is 'nt Lal Bahadur shastri resigned for railway accidents?

WHo gave a parliamentarian and an assembly members to continue " till proven" in court of law"??

My experiance says all ambiguity in legal clauses and bright Advocates/pleader or judges get convinced by this ambiguity even if " Manu Sharma" Jessica Lal's case gets parole.

Everything is opossible to chnage if you want to change.

CPM in WB continued for 33 years by design of non education to poor masses. they scared educated mass will drift away from them?

Salwa JUDUM started in Chattisgarh have been customised by CPM in WB for their supporters only with Police chief patronising Arma and ammunition stockpiling in those military camps supposed to be used for controling "Maoists"?

Why politicians have to promote or appoint Civil servants and finally bend rules or leigitimise the illegal doings of politicians by amending rules?

Mr Modi got elected to rajasthan Cricet association by changing rule of domiciles and having plot of landin Jaipur? WHo did all these??

Finally i would say ploticians should not get involved inappointing civil person there should be body like " collegium" even though there is but slowly it will progress from lower to less to zero corruption

so v guys think tht its tht tough to change our own mentality towards the society we live in and our so called motherland..........

It sounds like a guy sayin that my mother is getting raped and we can't help it. Shame on all of us guys..........

We are so pessimistic towards our society that we can't even think of changing the scenario.....

I guess its just because we are proud of the fact that our government and country is being run on so called jugaad....

Right fellas??

This is the reason why other countries are growing day by day and our country is declining. We do never think of country but think about family....

Yupp why not..it will.

  1. The day we all feel its our own country and our ancestors have fought for its freedom. That day it will be a zero corruption country.
  2. The day we dont burn busses out frustration.
  3. The day we dont differentiate between each others as north-indians, south-indians.
  4. The day we stop making statements to whom does Mumbai belong.
  5. The day we stop this stupid reservation which is now looking at its 2-3 generation and people are still not falling into open caregories.
  6. The day the general public thinks they too are responsible towards the betterment of that nation and they too need to be diciplined in the society.
  7. The day we stop saying the USA or the UK is so nice and how we are so ****
Always remember how the Americans and the Canadians are choosy about the VISA process and we are way to casual about our attitude.
THAT DAY....HOPE it come SOMEDAY!!!

Computerise all offices: CIC to RBI

The Editorial page - Letters column in The Deccan Chronicle - Chennai edition - April 21, 2010 (page-8) carries the following:

Digital RTI Records

Central Information Commission has asked RBI to computerise all its offices by the year end, to comply with Section 4(1) (a) of RTI Act 2005.

According to this Section of the Act, every public authority shall maintain all its records duly catalogued and indexed in a manner and the form which facilitates the right to information under this Act and ensure that all records are computerised within a reasonable time. The records should be connected through a network all over the country on different systems so that access to such records is facilitated.

Woefully, no Public Authority has implemented this nor is there a clear road map with milestones and budgets.

It is time the Centre and States suo motu computerise all records in all Public Authorities to comply with RTI Act.

I think that 'corruption' shows a polychronic or relationship based society. That has advantages and disadvantages. Walmart is going towards relationship based business in its new dealings. It seems the old way could not adapt well to big changes. I think (tell me if I'm wrong) that India has more of a host-like or father-like basis in many of it's organizations than a Brit/USA organization. That "Host Leadership" can be a sustained advantage (google on it).

There is no doubt that Unique ID can be the panacea for most evils of our modern day society, if implemented correctly. It can help the government to save thousands of crores of tax payers' money year after year lost on account of leakages in the system.

It is a well known fact, that the credibility of government in the eyes of the common man is very low. So instead of the Government implementing UID, it should be left to an Independent Public Body similar to Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

The independent Unique Identity Authority of India (IUIDAI) should ensure compliance with International Data Security Standards and be vested with the responsibility of registering every citizen and resident in India and issuing Biometric Smart Card with multi modal biometric (finger prints, iris, facial, palm vein and DNA).

All transactions of all individuals and organizations must be mandated through the use of the Biometric Smart Card. This can help to plug all the loop holes in the system and ensure transparency and accountability. Thus zero corruption can be achieved. It is only a mindset that zero corruption is not possible; and this argument is used to perpetrate more corruption. It is like asking is cancer disease curable? The answer is yes; if the right treatment is given. So also the right treatment has to be given to the cancer of corruption to eradicate it. Ban currency circulation and introduce Biometric Smart card linked transaction!!

yes it is possible if we all join together to finish corruption and just implement on it.

This is a bigger crime than any terrorist attack or anything like that. In a terrorist attack terrorists attack whom they think of their enemies or they are jealous of BUT In our scenario we are taking our own country to a decline wherein if we don't look into the matter now. can take us to hazardous concequences.

We say that we love our country and ready to do anything fpr it. Is it how we are serving our country which we also say our motherland.

It sounds like selling yourself or own parents for money.

What are we doing? Do we ever think about it?

I respectfully agree to you that none of us can say that "I have not been into any bribe or anything" but how about if we tke an oath for just not supporting it anyhow.

We know its very hard but thats also true that its not impossible.

It all depends on our self commitment and will power. which I think is not a very big thing.

Imagining India (or any country) to be zero corruption is like living in the land of OZ where reason has no place. Life itself is corrupting - A child learns to be corrupt when it learns that crying will get him attention. You could aim for reducing it which would be realistic, aim to eradicate it then you are Alice in Wonderland.

Oh no never , even in my dreams .... :) .. for that matter its not only INDIA , that i am referring to . Corruption is world wide and you can even say its a kind of birth right right from GOD to Human ...

It starts from small things like saying "You do something to me , in return I would do something to you" .. Its not a bad idea when its small and doesnot effect anyone adversly ,  but when it comes to larger scale  , it cannot be tolerated ...

We can try reducing it as much as possible and try being good and honest but certainly it cant go to nil (referring all over the world and not just my MOTHERLAND) .....

Let us analyse the root cause of the term "Corruption".  If you want "zero0-level, i.e. corruption free India", then, I think, we have to seek the help of lexicographers to remove the word from English dictionary, and re-coin the term as "benevolent fund" - meaning "to insure priority in service a certain gratis is granted".  Only "haves" will benefit from the system.

Seventies saw the end of an era of people volunteering to do / support any legitimate cause with pride, as the memories of tough-fought freedom was there in their minds.  Even at the end of a film show in theatres, people stood with absolute pride saluting our National Flag singing in chorus our National Anthem, as was relayed.

Day in and day out, we are inventing various techniques to camouflage the term "corruption", "money-laundering", etc. by introducing IPL, Football Leagues, and what not!  Our un-corrupt players are forced to be party to the dirty games these giants play, in collution with international community.  There is a strong collusion between various entities to make it even more success!  Unless, we realise and put into practise the dream of our Nobel Laureate, our own Rabindranath Tagore, "Where the mind is withot fear, and the head is held high, where knowledge is free, where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert, and of dead habit, where the mind is led forward by ee into ever widening though and action, into that heaven of freedom my father, let my country awake", we shall only be admonishing and dreaming over the awakening of our countrymen.

Oops you should'nt have posted such comments dear, don't try to be emotional think logically. The point here is India can atleast attain the status of being the least corrupted country in the world. I don't know if you are aware of but the rankings are given on the basis of being the most corrupted country in the world or being the least corrupted country. We the people of this nation are to be blamed in the first instance. How many us speak against corruption and when in need of something like a driving license for example offer bribe. How many of us say that we need a good government and during the time of elections vote on a bias or do not vote at all. How many of us violate traffic rules & pay the genuinefine when we are caught. Ok if not these then let us answer one last question honestly How many of us do litter garbage on the roads? and at the end of the day we do everything in front of our kids for them to learn by observing us " like the famous line from 3 idiots RISHVAT DENA TO KHUD PAPA NE SIKHAYA" we even lay foundations for our younger generation to learn and continue. So we can be the least corrupted but not free from corruption.

Guys,

Looking at the current scenario of the country, question is more about whether the goverment agencies are doing the job that they are supposed to be doing or not even if they accept bribe. To quote an example, one day the police caught an illegal 'satta' and confiscated 10k. However, on record they entered only 600Rs while the rest was distributed amongst themselves and their superiors. I really do not see that as a problem in the current scenario as long as the wrong-doers of the society are brought to justice. Bigger issue is when the govt agencies are not willing to take any action inspite of knowing what needs to be done.

Zero-corruption is an ideal situation which is too far fetched. If every agency becomes responsible and take up their duties in an honourable way, our country will zoom past many of the issues that we currently face.

Right from the road side begger to the topmost industrialist everybosy is doing everything for money. If 'easy money' is 'safely' available - why one would say no to it.....What do you say?

Sounds like mission impossible task.... India has to take rebirth to become zero corrupted country... Someone suggested to become clean individually to make India Zero corrupted... He might forget about the concept called Theory of asymmetric  thinking within society... No where within the world, the way of thinking is the same... So, idea of thinking in the same way and do the right thing and collectively become perfect will not be possible in either mean..

The seeds of corruption are hidden in unhealthy economy and underdeveloped social structure... Everyone has right to earn money by selling his/her service, everyone has right to have good life, everyone has right to have good health and education (I am considering here even less till primary education)... All are written down in our constitution but unfortunately never followed ever...

Discriminating the larger pie of people from these rights, take them towards the other path of earning, called corruption and gradually it spreads across and influencing other non-effected corners as well... It's like once you cultivate the bad elements, it will slowly cover up the whole society and destroy the moral...

Still, nevertheless, by thinking in positive way, if you do development within society then I can say it will decrease but will never become zero..

We cannot imagine India as a Zero Corruption country,I love my country, I love it to be corruption free country, but do we know from where to start with.Corruption is so ramphant that you will have to bribe to know, where and how corruptions are taking place.Every one wants corruption to be removed, but believe me almost every kid's education expences are met by so called corrupt money, if this is the situation, what could be the future gereration's observations in regards to corruption.

we have to change indian system completely and implement them stictly. first if we r able to punish the political leaders first then we can hope of a change.thats impossible. punishing in the sense hanging as early as possible.not by providing them free bed n food facility in the name of punishment. every body who thinks of doing corruption should fear of its dire consequences it gets him.for this to happen its quite impossible.even the PM/President will fear to take these measures as they cant live without these corrupt people.

When we talk about India being a Zero corrupt country, in my opinion it is next to impossible. It is not about individuals. It is the complete setup. Here, even the Anti-corruption squads are corrupt. For reducing the corruption the system  has to change. The ruling party politicians have to be fearless, I mean fear of the partymen withdrawing the support if they are strict. They should be willing to make the life easy for common man. They should care. If the rulers are corrupt, so will be the coun try men.

It is an Utopian belief to think about Zero corruption in a country like India where the difference in income between different classes of people is great. In a country like India where there is great difference in income between the rich and poor as well as the bureaucracy is very inefficient , people will continue to give and take bribes for satisfying their interests. The only way to eliminate corruption is to eliminate the difference in incomes between the rich and poor which Indian democracy does not enable. So in a sense Indian democracy which allows the economic disparity between different classes of people is itself the biggest enabler for corruption.

not at least for my generation.Because i don't think that i can prevent myself from participating in any type of corruption.

Participation doesn't only  mean direct link with corruption.

The day when at-least one fourth citizen of our country can hold this non-participation then the other day we will get INDEPENDENCE. and for that we need that number(1/4) of GANDHI .

AND I AM NOT GANDHI TILL NOW.  SORRY ..... BUT ARE YOU???????

Hello Yogesh, It is not at all possible. No point in blaming the minister and the government in general. Today almost all government employees getting good salary and other allowance. In spite of this they demand money when you approach government related works/approval etc. If you dint pay the work will get pending for months. Then you have to pay and get the work done. In general our attitude should change for the better. Then this will work. But it may be difficult to correct all...............to achieve this.

I agree with Ms. Kaladeen!! Why single out India??

Corruption is a state of mind and not a profession!! Its the opportunity to make HAY while the SUN shines kinda story. Once the clouds of rain start gathering, the whole sunny mornings can turn to shades of dark grey and that is where it just ends!!

Corruption is like a disease that is omni present.

I hope it is not to remove the corruption from the country at all. Everybody from top to bottom are addicted to corruption in all parts of the country and every department. People are thinking that taking bribe is a fashion nowadays. The best way to eradicate corruption from our country is "BHARATEEYUDU way". One of us should become BHARATEEYUDU and kill the people who expect bribe from the people. I hope then corruption can be removed from country totally.

India or no other country in the world can ever be deemed to be corruption free. It starts with the government of the day, before they win the elections you hear all the flowery promises and when they get into office they become worse than the previous one.

I feel corruption is colligated  to the values that prevails in a society. Within India rate of corruption is different in different states. When we say corruption, it is not just taking bribe, bribery is a small part of it. Larger problem is, most of  the people in this country have little adherence to values and our judgments are not immune from emotional distractions.

Its not easy to live a life with values and standing up against all odds inflicting on it. Few days back it appeared on TV news that  one pregnant women was denied admission in a hospital and she gave birth to a baby on its premise.  If a few bugs would have allowed her in I see no wrong in bribing the doctor.

No. Becoming a zero corruption country is kind of a hypothetical situation. Which country in today's world has reached any where near to becoming a zero corruption country ? We can at best try to curb the amount of corruption. But becoming a zero corruption country is next to impossible. How many of us can put a hand on our chest & say that we haven't been involved in any kind of corruption at any stage of our lives ? I believe none.

I don't think we can be a zero corrupted country but we can defenitely be a least corrupted country if everybody tries to work for the country from the bottom of their heart.
