The relation between the neighbouring countries of India is a bit sour lately, and now after several years of denying the existence of any river project on the Brahmaputra, China has finally admitted to India that they are indeed building a hydropower project on the river.

The admission, made for the first time by Chinese officials to India during the recent visit by foreign minister S M Krishna to Beijing, has brought a measure of transparency between the two countries, but also focused Indian interest in China's river activities, particularly Brahmaputra. And also there is so much of intrusions happening at the LAC (Line of actual control) by the chinese army.

With all this we can say that we can't really trust them or can we say the the relation between India & China is improving just because they admitted about the Brahmaputra project.  So, what do you think people can India & China ever have a cordial relationship?  Do share your views on this..

Yes, I think the relation between India and china is improving a lot,  and in the first place India and China have no water-sharing agreements, and now for the first time they are agreeing to some thing which they are doing. So, it is the right way to go ahead to create a good relation between the two countries, Indian and Chinese water experts are ready to ink an "implementation plan" to share hydrological data on the Sutlej and Brahmaputra rivers. So yes India & China can have a cordial relationship with eachother people...

They could if they wanted to put forth the effort to have a cordial relationship. But we all know how governments can be. Many different types of governments can be harsh and unwilling to cooperate with each other. That's what causes so many problems in the world today.

That is truly a dream for many people to want their governments to have civil relationships. It could happen but as times change and governments change it may and may not happen.

While accepting your point of view, let us hope for the best, it is also a matter of concern on the issue of Chinese intrusion into our territory.

Thanks for the referral Mr.Dayanand.

once the US intrust in pakistan is over, it will keep its eyes on India and China, at that time China has only one option to safe guard its teriteries to hand shake with India, otherwise either of the two has got to receive the same treatment what pakistan.is receiving Everybody knows recently pakistan received billions of $ from USA to fight against terorism, while as same hands gave the double the amount to terrorists to finish off with Pakistan, its just the influnce of nuclear powers india , pakistan and china, that USA does not want to stand against USA, unfortuntely these three countries have common boarders, pakistan being ally to china and india not willing to sign CTBT.These are the things that makes USA to worry about and does want these three countries to be friends.

Thanks Dayanand for referral.certainly both countries can have cordial relations if both have true, honest and open trust between them and if they have strong political will to discuss and debate any dispute through negotiations and never wish to have any kind of military interference.

Yes ....   should improve. U may be cautious and watchful though.

Might be our personnel in the Ministry in Foreign Affairs are to do a delecate job in keeping a watch on :

--   India - China relations

--  USA - India relations

--  China - USA relations

--  Pakistan - China relations

--  USA - Pakistan relations

So, while dealing with "relations" of Nations, India should keep a balance. Mind : we are growing, we are in Asia, we want peace to prosper, we have border with China and China is an Asian giant.

THERE'S A HELL OF A LOT MORE TO INDIA'S PROBLEMS WITH CHINA AND PAKISTAN THAN YOU SEEM TO ADMIT. USA? WELL, I DON'T THINK THE USA GAVE ANY OTHER COUNTRY (OTHER THAN ISRAEL) AS MUCH IMPORTANCE AS IT GIVES TO PAKISTAN. THAT'S PRETTY MUCH THE STRATEGY OF THE WESTERN ALLIANCE (UK-USA) TO KEEP INDIA HEAVILY FOCUSED ON PAKISTAN. DON'T FORGET THAT PAKISTAN WOULD NEVER HAVE COME ABOUT IF THE BRITISH DIDN'T WANT IT. AS FOR CHINA, WELL, I FEEL WE LOST THE PLOT LONG BACK WHEN NEHRU WAS LEADING US. THE CHINESE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN IN TIBET IN THE FIRST PLACE JUST AS PAKISTAN (AND LATER BANGLADESH) SHOULD NOT HAVE COME ABOUT. UNFORTUNATELY IT'S THIS PAST THAT'S SITTING ON OUR SHOULDER LIKE AN OBSTINATE MONKEY AND WE DON'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ARE WE WAITING FOR THIS MONKEY TO TURN CARNIVOROUS AND BITE INTO OUR NECK? I DON'T KNOW. I HOPE NOT.

Nope i dont think so. The chinese arent a trustworthy lot. They will even sell their mother for a little gain. And we are such suckers that we keep quiet sufferring all insults and opening up our borders.

It is the age of removing a thorn with a thorn. The chinese have infiltrated every important country in the world and slowing down india - their main economic threat is prime on their agenda. So how can you trust your competitor ? It is foolish to get taken-in by the silly overtures of the chinese while they hit us below the belt elsewhere.

India gives importance to honest, culture and humanity. But,China treats India as a competitor and it tries to beat India at any cost not only in the field of BPO but all specially in the border.Like wolf and the deer is China and India

No. I don't think that in the near future China and India can have cordial relation like the countries of Europe have between themselves. It is all because of the Chinese mentality. After gaining economic superiority they are thinking in terms of overtaking the whole of the region that is nearby atleast. In the past also they something else and do just the opposite. In the 1962 war between the two countries. They were advancing like anything into the Indian territory. They stopped only after the stern warning by the US. Now they know onething that US will not take a stand against them. Like US they want to have a control over the whole of the region. Against this backdrop how can one think of cordial relationaship between the two countries.

NO... IT WILL ALWAYS BE 'HINDI - CHINI BYE BYE'... NOT BHAI BHAI !

The Chinese are a very SLY RACE... there is a huge difference of Ethics between Indians & Chinese. This is the primary reason WHY We Indians will never have cordial relations with the Chinese.

If at all WE have to FEAR SOMEONE... its the Chinese & not the Pakis. After all Barking Dogs seldom bite.

The way the Chinese are eating into our Territory... India will always have to be wary of them.

IT WILL BE A HATE - LOVE RELATIONSHIP ( both feelings will be Camouflaged)

Happy Debating Friends !

Just because they admitted something which was already well known and feared does not remove the problem. The control of when to release and how much of bramhaputra water remains with china so how does it help?

Historically china has said one thing and done quite the opposite so far as relations with India are concerned. It is in national interests to be cautious and careful.
