Yes, but he need not. Why should he in the first place? That is Manmohan Singh's USP. Perceived to be a weakling, when actually he is not. Perceived to be a "below average", but actually he is not. I beg to differ with respected Shrikant Manohar Danke saheb. I have known Manmohan Singh from close quarters and as a journalist I have travelled with him on his numerous trips abroad. Manmohan Singh is actually a very shrewd politician and his rise, rise and rise is a testimony to his shrewdness. His biggest strong point is that he purposely allows a false image of a weak politician, but underneath lies a very clever politician. I have a feeling that in the near future when Rahul Gandhi becomes PM, if the Congress were to retain power, then Manmohan Singh will replace Pratibha Patil as President of India when she completes her tenure.

Yes! Today we see a strong Prime Minister and a strong leader of the ruling party. I guess, majority of India does not recognize this as we have not seen this equation in our lifetime. Furthermore we have not seen in our near future, a center of power who makes a genuine, concentrated effort to take everyone along. Probably not since Pt. Nehru passed away.

Manmohan singh is Indpendent thinker no doubt in that,he is very clever individual..he has his own strategy which Ms Gandhi cant get.. and what Ms Gandhi plan`s Mr Singh cant get. if the game of head count comes Ms Gandhi may win ..but in strategy of planing no one can reach Mr Singh.

Manmohan Singh is also like any other man. He is hungry for power - at any cost. If he is not, he would have stepped down long back seeing all the scandals around him. His excuse of not knowing does not wash water with anybody. He is the Chief Executive of India and he is expected to know everything that is happening. That is why, he has the IB, CBI, PMO, Cabinet, etc., etc. Either he should tighten everybody and make them fall in line or quit. He cannot go on offering lame excuses knowing well that they are not correct. Afterall, he is a great economist, professor, well-educated and travelled.

No, never at this stage, as peoples' anger is looming very large on issues relating to corruption that is getting unfolded on day in and day out basis. Even if he wants to get out of her shadow, the party would not like to allow him to live in peace as there is always a danger of his spilling beans about the political affairs of congress and its allies.

This is impossible. He is a good manager of the affairs. He dont have a political base. Thats the only qualification for him to continue in the post. How can u expect him to come out of the shadow. He is living in the shadow.

No as long as we the people of India have observed during his regime he cannot. He is a great man with great vision but the effective people in the party are the scamsters. If he had been effective then for sure these all scams would have never been taken place.

No. this cannot be possible coz the coterie sstanding behind Sonia Gandhi in order to gain political gains would not allow to happen this, otherwise Sonia being an average personality would not have gained such a huge popularity. this would happen only in India

Whether PM, Manmohan Singh functions under the shadow of Sonia Gandhi or not is not a pivotal issue or question of debate, however massive question in the larger perspective is how he manages the affairs of the nation. Both Manmohan Singh and virtual PM, Sonia Gandhi have failed to deliver, rampaging corruption is happening under their nose and they are just mute spectators. Ministers and Bureaucrats are plundering public coffers and they are hardly bothered. Govt under them have failed to live up to the tall promises they made during elections. For instance, scamsters like Kalmadi, Raja, Chavan, Kapoor, Shinde are still roaming free enjoying all govt amenities and honours. 2G scam worth Rs 1 lakh 76 thousand core has happened and still govt not open to JPC, prime land in Mumbai usurped in the name of Kargil heroes by top generals, brigadiers, colonels, politicians and bureaucrats, nothing concrete has taken place against the culprits. Sonia, Manmohan, Rahul and their sycophants are only concerned about their govt but people. They are emotionally blackmailing people. Shame on these big shots of Indian polity. Now big question is on whom we can rely? All parties including BJP, TDP, JDU, JDS have scamsters, its high time to launch a nationwide revolution against corruption and teach scamsters a lesson or two.

Certainly not and certainly Sonia wouldn't let it happen! Manmohan being a meek and soft person, wouldn't dare to venture!By refusing the post of prime ministership Sonia has painted herself as a person who has done a great sacrifice, and by virtue of it a martyr!! And by putting Manmohan in the hot seat she is enjoying both the worlds! That is by being the "de facto" PM she is enjoying power without responsibility!!!
