I must say that I find it strange that a "network/system admin" is asking such a question!

YES, it is indeed possible for many people to access a single computer at the same time. Typically, these days, such a computer system is a server - accessed via another computer. :)

There are also mainframe computers which can be accessed by many people at the same time via "dumb" terminals (which don't have any CPU but only transmit signals from the keyboard and receive signals for the monitor). Mainframe computers and other such computers which can handle many users at one time are called multi-user computers. Unix is an example of an operating system which can be used on such multi-user computers.

Dear Mr Isaac Ji

i already know about UNIX & Linux OS but can u able to tell me that which OS used more between Windows XP & UNIX today how many users in offices knows about UNIX platform or Windows XP which is more freely OS is todays' time

for more explaination suppose you can work on a Excel file or checking your mails also and your frnd or brother is in US also checking the same mail of your e-mail id only so can he also work on the same excel file in which u r working at present in india

i have so many more points to proof that in user frndly environment where  people know's only about OS XP,vista & 7 don't have the option to access a file from any where in the world while if the main system is shutdown or by mistake Hard disk will be corrupted
