The word Control is better explained by the word Power. Power comes from money, connections and sometimes the inclination to imbibe fear. Notion of social control is fear, and this is done no better way than Media. Environmental Crisis, radical fundamentalism, acts of terrorism, News, Views, Criticism. Where do you hear it? The answer PLM-Politico Legal Media Complex, it is dedicated to promoting fear in the population, under the guise of promoting safety.

I would say that what is the need to control media..I mean if you impose strict rules and regulations on media as to what news should they air on television or something like that ..then what is the point of living in a democracy. But one thing that media guys should always keep in mind that they should not cover unnecessary stories to sensationalize their channels or should not create hype for wrong things....because today we are seeing that people trying to come into spotlight do weird things and some reporters by covering those useless stories waste people's as well as their own time.So surely this thing should be avoided by the media people.

Personally I feel, media shld kno its limits & if it does not then there shld be someone higher authority to keep a legal check on it. This does not mean that the governing body will always keep a leash on news channels but atleast some rules & regulations need to apply.Bcoz not long ago when doordarshan was the only channel we were shown the news without commercialisation. No doubt the advent of large number of media, be it news, print, radio, net etc. gives a larger perspective to differnet issues & diversities yet it also is a reason of influx of pathetic reporting, non-issue propaganda & unnecessary chaos. some people are knowledgable not to pay attention but wht to do to those who are not?

No, I do not think we can control the media, if it is controlled or censored so much, who would watch the content?unfortunately media is ruling us and TRP rating is ruling the media, it is the variety of stuff and the content which keeps the media on and moving, of course to some extent the daily serials which promotes rifts withing family members, advocates mutual revenge etc., should be controlled for better purpose of media and for healthy viewership.

media is a tool for politicians in india who use it at their disposal. Also media to increase their TRP's would like to brag about political agendas and as these people even at trobled times like26/11 could not unite together so they would never unite to pass a bill regarding control of media .

No, the media cannot be controlled, as it is too vast and even all govt. efforts to narrow it down are coming to zero, which is a good thing. It is good that the media has its own identity and is not controlled by a particular group of people. However, having said that, there are certain media houses that are pro Congress and anti BJP and vice versa.

Suhas I dont completely disagree with you here..however..i feel Media cannot be controlled. I communicate with them on daily basis and have analysed, to which you might as well agree, that media is very proactively tracking companies and there is no way you can fool them or guide them to do stories for you for friendship. Having said that, I am new to the field. However I have been exposed to media to full extent and I have started analysing the behaviour and strategies on which media works these days. It would have been possible few years back to mould your stories. PR agencies facilitate the process of positioning us at the right platforms and i dont think they can in any way save us from negative publicity.
