SURE, as they can concentrate more online, rather than in classrooms. Many students are not attentive in classrooms, as they feel they are bonded to the classrooms against their wishes, while their attention gets more concentrated online as they attend online classes at their own volition.
PS: Of course, as pointed out by Rakesh bhanagar, Eklavya did not attend any regular class of Guru Dronacharya. He even did not attend any online class, but he proved to be more competent and perfect archer than Arjuna, the regular student of Guru Dronacharya, even by seeing the portrait pose of Guru Dronacharya.

Yes, why not as long as their thirst for knwledge is there and they continue their research online to gain more. They shouldnt make online studies just a time saving mode and forget their howmework. In fact any student whose basics are strong can definitely switch to online mode successfully. In any case nowadays what do they teach in classes ? they just mechanically teach the subjects reading direct from the text book and any student who doesnt understand, has tutions to attend always - of course by the same teacher who doesnt teach in class. Also most of the schools today have become homework dependent usually loading the child with too much homework rather than make them understand the concept in class. Given this scenario, they might as well study online where they can research a lot more and get to benefit from expert advice.

The virtual class rooms as good as real class rooms. The students can interact with each other. Interaction among them is a question. Even in real class rooms, interaction depends on the interest of the students.

Yes,i feel so.As i am an online trainer i can perfectly see my students corresponding with me the same way the class students do.In todays world technology has given us the comfort of communicating from anywhere. Moreover i feel online students can be better as they have access to various online sources to compare and contrast and thus clarify their doubts.I have been a teacher in both forms and i feel online students can be as good as classroom peers.Sometime they even outdo others.

I agree this sides views, however a slight feeling in my mind is the class room study which enhances the clarifications & explanations to the students for their doubts. This facility is not available through on line study. Thanks for the referral Ms.Kavitha Shankar.

IF THERE IS A WILL TO LEARN PROCESS DOESN'T MATTER . IF A MAN IS HUNGRY HE NEEDS FOOD IT MAY BE COOKED IN HOTEL OR HOME.SIMILARLY IF ONE WANT TO LEARN THERE IS NO BOUNDRY THAT HE HAS TO ATTEND CLASSES. EVERYBODY KNOWS THE EXAMPLE OF EAKLAVYA WHO LEARNT IN FRONT OF HIS GURU DRONACHARYA'S STATUE,THIS IS REQUIRED FOR LEARNING ANY THING IN ANY WAY.

Of course. The only difference is the physical presence. If the support material is provided properly and takes in to account the simple fact that the student is learning by himself, it should work out ok. The main issue is the student' s attitude and desire to learn!

Obviously yes! Provided online courses are routinely monitored by the SMEs on the performance of every student and the online courses have built-in features of two-way interaction, replete with case studies, relevant references, video clippings and help desk facilities to handle mundane queries. The ideal advantage is self-paced learning. However, those who are serious to education will immensely get benefited in the multi-tasking environment, and the others would get carried away.

Due to technological advancements, online students can be as good as the classroom peers in the studies. This however depends on the individual who has to have a better control over his environment when he is undertaking online studies as there could be a lot of distractions. Additionally, virtual class rooms have also become quite popular. Many students take online classes due to lack of time, unable to attend direct classes, are not well, etc. However, if all other factors are equal, direct interactive class rooms are preferred as it helps to build a team bonding atmosphere that is difficult to be built easily in a virtual environment. Thanks for the referral, Kavita....

ThanQ Kavitha for the referral. I agree with your views.Online students can be as good as anybody. But,there are bound to be limitations. Classroom is traditional and time tested. When individual excellence helped by technology comes to the fore, online students are second to none.

Not only good but better than classroom students. Role of teacher online is expanded into facilitator and coordinator. Development of Personal Learning Environments PLE, which is step ahead than LMS will change whole education. school, classroom, exams are not effective for imparting education in this age. Need to go beyond school, classroom, exam system into PLE,immersive, lifelong education system. Only such system will solve India's literacy problem.

Ms Kavita It is true that learning process is effected by environment but the capabilities and learning abilities belongs to possesser of it. Initially there were Gurukuls, than open air Shanti niketan, than with the class rooms and now on line learning. On line learning is an improvement. During Online study your concentration is high. Grasping is more. I am delaing with online learning , as well as distance learning and as well as class romm learning. I would like to say online is a bettere way.

I am in agreement with Amrita since class room teaching is far better than the online teaching particularly there are no question answer session. In order to widely spread the classroom all over the country the technical class room may be the answer but the traditional one is the best any day.

May not be in all aspects. Afterall online one cann't find the environment a student get in classroom. The learning of social values, etiquette, practical communication, situation handling, conflicts, managing friendships, etc... How to find all this online? Bookish knowledge is not only thing to learn.

This Topic from the angle of Kavitha's Functional Area --India Markets(without brackets) and her Industry --Teaching Education(without oblique) does not justify her key words online education and online students vs classroom students . The Globalized World is now no more having any exclusions like India or any other entity as a matter of truth in Educational Globalizm. There is already the arrival of indicators pointing to no more requirement of Students and Education , both types -online and offline . The materialistic age is now over with advancements made on all fronts : living standards based on Modern Applied Sciences , upliftment of human mind from belief in the Supernatural and non-scientifics including the Almighty Gods , High Skys , Deep Waters and Eerie Breezes, Burning Fires and the timepass ways of Living in cultural, religious and traditionally notional and notational things of the past . Duplication of efforts in the name of Education & Research in different Countries in different currencies is now not required given any branch of Specialization ,sincerely speaking .The World as a whole is now coming to grips with the BEST PRACTICES REALITY called GLOBALIZATION FOR GLOBALIZM in all walks of Life for all stages of ageing patterns of Human Resources and their utilization for evolving Converged Human Identity . But to react to Kavitha's mundane proposition , I would say that students are not born as students but training to practise the art of Responsibiity toward becomming students for Education is the precondition. This realization should dawn.Once it happens, that's all . Kavitha's value added wisecrack can be considered as an experiment to carry out by way of case-studies , market-situations , income-groups , Text-books vs Guides , Private Tutions vs Teachers , Tutorials vs classnotes , Selfstudy vs circle-study , understanding vs cramming types' students and the spectrum goes on and on . The Online type and The Classroom type are certainly different products made on online and made in class-room.What about then the Library Type ? Yet a different product . One outweighs the other in merits and demerits unless the time comes to put an end to the classroom mode of delivery of Education worldwide . sd/-Dr.Rojukurthi Sudhakar Rao An Ex-C.S.I.R Jr.Research Scholar@Andhra Univers'. on my personal home business HP L'TOP 520 MODEL .

nah!..online education is a farce no one should indulge in...its for ppl who can only get to learn in a not so serious mode but cannot be treated as equal to classroom education...i hv been a student in both forms of education and found classroom education much more effective than online education...the learning curve in the former is far more effective than the latter and is incomparable to online education...the idea behind online edu. has emerged as a result of an easy route to education for those who wants a quicker way to academic recognition...so shrug off that idea of online education and take that tough route to classroom education that can groom your talent to its fullest capacity...

As a teacher I would say that the peer tutoring is more effective in the classroom only and in online calss room the studens can have lot of destraction and engage in different affairs without the knowledge of teacher. Class room teaching is effective in teaching learning process rather than the online teaching. But studnets can learn a lot in online teaching and it is cost effective also.
