Well privatizing in any field can at least less the marketing problem and with the they will disappear. There is a big difference between Govt. Venture and Private concern. They are much more think about quality and service when they compete with other.

This It's the only way it could work. Public property does not mean the cropland is in the hand of farmers. Far otherwise. The real owner (if such a social pattern had been put into effect ) is actually the state what means the propagation of bureaucracy, inefficiency and irresponsibility. Recall former communist USSR was an importer while today's Ukraine taken alone is a great food exporter.

Its not about privatizing or making it public , its if there is a justifiable remuneration for an effort put in , then a system will work or in a long run such system will collapse. Our government institutions are the best example. Now they have realized the mistake and they are making the necessary changes though its a bit late for the same.

yes....A lot of confusion exists between central and state policies on crop produce. “Why do we need a Supreme Court intervention to distribute food to the hungry poor, when intellectuals are harping on achieving food security? In my opinion private entrepreneurs can do a better job in solving the marketing problem than the present government officials
Even after several years, our farmers still send their produce to the city in outdated methods. They use bags, sacks, bundles to define their produce and consumers deal in ‘kg', units and grams to purchase. Different products are defined in different weight ranges, for example onions in 50 kg bags, potatoes in 44 kg, tomatoes in 15 kg crates, carrot in 80 kg. Why this difference? so we really need privatization of Agriculture to solve the marketing problems..

Agriculture is already private, are you referring to corpotarization?, Corpotarization destroyed agriculute in US midwest region, its doing now same in Brazil. The circle of big corporations from selling patented seeds ,fertilizers to playing role of middlemen for distribution is not sustainable, add to that the debt trap. This will replace old middlemen with new corporate middlemen.Farmers will again not get fair price for their produce. What's needed is to create collaborative public private storage and distribution networks for farm produce.

I am totally agree with Mr. Prasad S Shetty's argument. The great issue in agriculture market is middlemen and the proper storage facilities. In one of the writing of Amerthia Sen, he is telling that, when there was a flood situation in west bengal so many people don't have the food even when there are plenty of food grains available in the go-downs. The reason is the people don't have the money to buy it. So, as per his statement, there is no deficit of supply of food grains in India, but there is no proper way of storage and supply of the same in India. Privatization may create a picture of better marketing but it will increase the price of those commodities. Already it is now reached the moon.
