Yes we can reduce the use of papers in may ways like use papers both side, and then send them for recycling etc. e-bills & e-statements etc. can reduce the need of paper to a great extend. also the govt should promote Plastic Cards like Debit/Credit Cards etc. for payments to reduce the use paper currency.

I support the idea of recycling the paper and growing more trees and reducing the usage of paper as much as we can. The whole idea of creation of this debate is to make people more aware of what harm we are doing to the nature by wasting paper. All of us aware of the fact that paper comes from trees but how many of us actually think of saving paper thus saving trees.

Please support in saving paper and thereby trees and save Nature.

I would like to support the idea of data storage. In both govt. and private sectors, we still have data storage in the form of paper besides very minimal in digital form. If we can think of going purely digital, it might be of great help saving lot of paper and thus trees.

1) Saibal Ray Ji :- yes electronic media can easily accessible to all. 2) V.S Ji:- still we are using lots of paper at present time also. 3) Pradeep Sarin Ji:- fraud/misuse are so easily can be done in india by the use of paper currencies only (money) but our data & all types of records are fully safe on internet & hard disk for long time. paper may be lost by any one's mistake, or may be sell or stolen by any one on the pressure of money only or get automatically destroyed after a long time but soft copies on mail & hard-disk are keep safe in proper condition for long life & we can easily send to any one at any time 4) Kannan Ji:- when should i say that we can make this change so immediately "India mei aaj tak kabhi bhi kuch bhi itni fast hua hai jo ab hoga" but we can bring this "E-Technology" very soon by making so much effort 5) N. Nageshwaran Ji:- a) why:- i want to bring this new "E-Technology" for preventing the use of paper, keep our environment so healty by reducing the cutting of large number of trees. b) how:- by launching "E-Technology" we can at least stop making paper currency & stop using paper in huge strength & major places like "govt offices, bank, countries currency, making of school results on ledger sheet, use of report cards, & many more work places. 6) Taniya Ji:- well i support u in 1 case that is use of paper in "newspaper & writing" very well said. but use of paper in bills after purchasing any material giving the "E-Payment" in all the shop, stores, mall & every where even in taxi bills or any where to any one who can use the mobile device 7) S.Muralidharan Ji:- you are great sir aapki to bilkul hi alag keh diya well India mei ye kyu possible nahi hai or Kya possible nahi hai India Jab Hum India Ke Citizen hai to at present time when we are try to jump in 3G technology then how can we think that we can launch "E-Technology" & stop use of paper in maximum strength

With the growing popularity of elearning in developed nations like US, UK, Australia and developing countries like India, we surely can think of a time when we will have digital stuff for information. Also, I am not sure how many of us like to browse internet for eBooks or pdfs of novels, educational stuff.

To give an example of Educomp in India coming up with IWBs and digital education for kids, we can surely think of at time when we can minimize the usage of hard copy of books and rely more on digital stuff.

Also, would request everyone to subscribe to e-bills for mobile, internet, e-statements for banks, investments. This would really help us all in saving papers since 1 Paper=1 Tree.

With, advent of smartphones, tablets and ebook readers, its possible to minimize paper use in most situations. With digital signing and online banking transactions, smart cards etc. many commercial activities can be conducted without using paper documents. Paper is mostly used to document and keeping of records at most workplaces. But for all this we need to have pervasive internet connectivity and affordable devices, which can replace paper documents. In education, though, use of paper for writing practice is not going to be phased out any time soon.

I agree with Mr. Murilidhar Soni. An intranet web site can be used for in-office communications, which i think is the huge generator of paper waste. We to have an intranet website for this thing which has reduced the use of paper significantly.

Use of e-technology save lot of paper. Specially govt sector should take initiative to adopt e-technology and change the documention mode. In public encourage to adopt online information rather then hard copy.

We certainly can remove the usage of paper work to a great extent by referring to digital piece of information. With the growing usage and demand of handheld devices for easy acess to information, we surely can substitute reduce paper's usage. Also, I would like to quote example of newspapers, journals going digital and are available online as well. Although, it might be difficult to read information online than reading on paper but I'm sure we can save a lot of trees. Recycling could be another option of saving paper.

Electronic book readers etc are no alternative of Paper , for many reasons , they emit light and radiation , which is more stressing to eyes , there is not a single electronic display technology which can be seen in reflected light like paper , so it is un - natural way of reading ,also electronic products waste is much more toxic

No , It is not possible to stop the use of paper as the acess to  electronic gadgets are yet not available to all. Except all this thes medias are not reliable there is no privacy and it can be destroyed by bug or viruses any time at that time only hard copies are usefull. So its not possible to stop use of paper fully.

Dear friends

It sound good to stop the usage of paper. Over the centuries it came in to existence. Limitation of electronic media is well known(bug, fraud, bad sector, accessability, every year new product). Since our childhood we are growing with wood 'as paper is made from trees' ie. JEETAY BHI LAKDI AUR MARTEY BHI LAKDI'. We can go for electric cremenation but not.The electronic media origin is just few decades back.

So reality is something different. However the dream is not bad.

However I noticed one thing that I was being taught to write on wooden patti 'Slate' around 55 years back. Now that wooden patti 'Slate' usage has gone down tremendously. But that is not due to electronic media.

Its not possible to replace paper by electronic gadgets , ever heard about electronic waste ? that is much more toxic than normal waste , and as the gadgets use is increasing elctronic waste is also increasing , it is more dangerous to environment and humans also , recycling of e waste is also much difficult

There is difference in reading a paper , and reading something on self - luminescent CRT , or light emitting LCD screen , continous gazing at these screen is harmful to eyes , and subject you to radiation also , also you don't get that feeling of reading paper , which u r aware since childhood , better way is to recycle paper , and to grow tress , and if indeed paper consumes more forest then some other way of making paper should be invented , instead of increasing toxic e waste

It is not possible, as you need to read paper everyday in the morning, invariably you get the same kind of information on the net, secondly, it is a parallel form of medium, if one does not work other medium will substitute, thirdly, you need paper in day to day life, if not for anything atleast for writing small message, or noting down any points or phone no: etc. So stop the usage of paper is very remote, however, nowadays people are getting into tatoos, what is the other alternative you can think?. both work in the same space of life.

now a days the usage of paper almost reduced because of invention of computers on line system. It also effected the postal department for transition of documents to the other end. Still the paper usage is must in getting the Registrations, Acknowledgements, personal letter correspondence etc. Always the good too effect the other side of good also in a bad way. Postal Department is effected worst.

How reliable and how quick is the retrieval of data /records using electronic media? All electronic gadgets advise users to keep a copy as backup of very important data. Paper print outs are quick, can be easily sorted and stored for instant access. Legal documents have to be in hard copy for authenticty and to prevent fraud/misuse. Cannot avoid use of paper for reasons already listed before by members.
