Companies in India are in the race to achieve a high quality supply chain that will boost the productivity. But this fire is short lived & they all come to the old concept of jugad. Thus all the efforts go in vain.

There is a big question that whether Indian companies will ever reach international standards in SCM??

In my pinion this will the situation for the next 100 yrs. We never learn from our mistakes. Corruption is the gift we all have got for democracy. Further the concept of jugad is more accepted in India.

Though the concept of supply chain management is comparatively new to India. Indian companies has performed well in the field. But there is still large scope for improvement and technology improvement.

See the problem is when sumone says that can we achieve this or that..the answer to it is positively yes....but the problem is infrastructure in this case is not supporting us...and it is fact..though after 100 years we may be able to achieve it ...but the point is would it matter then...whats the guarantee that the international standards which we want to achieve has not been improved then...and suppose we reach to a point where they have redefined it...the problem is the time and not whether we can achieve it...standards keep improving..and there is no point in achieving a standard which was very good and now considered to be ok....

Indians believe in only one thing SHIT...i.e some how in time rather than Just in time which our competitors follow religiously...Cant say much about the politicians who play a very important role in getting the infrastructure ready for this...but the problem is they are first making their own bucks to prepare their own infrastructure..(house, private jets..). Cant say much to the politicians if they can rule smart indians then kudos to them that they have that in them and we have no right to tell them anything.

Most companies lack expertise to manage supply chains, also there's need to be very high investments for creating infrastructure, till then we will have sub standard supply chain process here.
