Yes the education is needed. Some may say that talent comes naturally but then there is need apply it professionally where education lays its role. A training on what to do always comes handy come what may..

Whereas education...and especially "continuing education"...are critical to professionalizing your real estate market, there are several other factors essential to the process: 1) Strict laws and enforcement measures to reinforce the professional values; 2) Professional associations which likewise insist on professional standards regardless of other relationships; 3) Accessible and respected procedures whereby the public...especially clients and customers...can file complaints on unprofessional behavior AND where such complaints are acted upon fairly; 4) A career environment that looks upon such an education as more than just a credentialing process; and 5) A culture that demands professionalism from its so-called professionals.

You are right, usually people in hard core real estate learn things by virtue of experience over the years, whereas the same thing can be learnt in class room in a very short period which can be followed by some practical exposure to polish the knowledge.

We all know, Indian real estate sector is highly unorganized, least transparent and lacks professionalism. To enhance professionalism, i think system of real estate education should be introduced which can enhance the knowledge of professionals who would then understand the benefits of professionalism. Are there are other factors that can enhance professionalism?

Education does really help. Maybe a degree or a diploma by a govt. recognized institution would help.

But as James mentioned the other factors have to be tightened too.
