Can technical innovations increase the life span of buildings ?

how can we increase the durability of a building by creating new age concrete having much more resistance to freezing,thawing,reducing shrinkage cracking,and reducing permeability of concrete?

durability of a structure if increased will reduce a lots of maintenence costs and low maintenance infrastructure.Material selection plays important part in improved concrete, air entraining admixtures will reducepermeability of concrete which will protect structure from aggresive chemical elements,improve corrosion resistance. also the cementecious materials blending will play imp role in enhancing durability of concrete.

Yes with new technical innovations one can increase the durability of the structure, as there are so many new trends that are following and many modern day marvels are only possible just because of new technical innovations that is happening in the construction.

I might agree with you joy partially but old school techniques and designs will help in increasing the life of the structure than few technical innovations, or else you would'nt have seen all the forts and palaces that were built centuries ago still standing right. And they did all this before they knew what concrete was all about....So to me the design and the site location is very important for the increase in the life span of the buildings....
