Can testing tools like QTP can really prevent failures in software before any disaster due to that failure??

Can testing tools like QTP can really prevent failures in software before any disaster due to that failure??

 

The main reason for giving in this topis is -- There are many instance wherein failures in software functionalities has led to some distasters such as failed space mission,aircraft accidents due to software malfunction. So when it is comes to software role in critical areas such as space missions,aircraft,military equipments, there should be no compromise and the software should work to its expected functionality as any cost. Can the testing tools such as QTP,Winrunner really prevent this kind of failures by means of various tests that it can perform..

In my opinion, I would say yes for this topic. Being a tester myself I feel by means of various tests that qtp can perform it can really prevent the software failures. testing tools can replace people by testing the application day and night without fatigue and give their result whether the application is ok or not..

In todays world automated testing is a necessity , not a luxury. But one must remember that whatever the budget, automation will always have a straight-jacketed approach. Simply for the reason that it cannot simulate all the adhoc scenarios that a manual tester can "discover".

So for any application the correct testing approach should be a combo of tools like QTP and Manual testing methods.

Of course it does. By testing tools like QTP prevents software failures.By testing before implementation, one can actually know what are the mistakes still there in the software which may lead t project failure...

Not all areas in Software can be automated.some require manual tests.it depends on context.Automation is mainly used for regression testing.as there are newer technologies coming up these tools need to recognize the software components that are being used.
