Applying ecosystem service valuation principles to natural resources management has the potential to encourage the efficient use of resources, but can decision support systems built on these principles be made both practical and robust?

The concept of ecosystem services can be practically implemented to improve natural resource management. Infact we have only disturbed natural resources due to rapid urbanization. In India, it is still worse because we don't plan for future, we always find solutions on wrong doings. If we plan our urban system well in advance then I don't think that we will need a debate on the concept of ecosystem. Our forefathers had developed a successfull natural resources management system. We should have improved the old sytsem with all its objectives intact but we have failed to do that and in the process, we have overlooked some of the vital objectives like ecobalance.

It is also my feeling that we need a detailed analysis, try implementing in a pilot project & see how they work. Also larger issue is how sustainable it can be.Develope attitudes in our society towards the ecosystem,to make it practically happen.

Yes but we need to analysis a lot to implement it.

Since we don't have control over the nature everything we do is a trial and error method and the eco system also changes now and then. So what ever we do we should have to consider the environment and do it.

NO ,ECOSYSTEM SERVICES BE PARTICALLY APPLIED TO IMPROVE NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGMENT DECISIONS MAY NOT BE SUCESSFULL .

FIRST OF ALL WE MUST IMPROVE MORAL VALUES IN OUR GENERATIONS SO THAT EVERY BODY WILL CARE ABOUT NATURE LIKE OUR OWN FAMILY.INSTEAD OF THINKING FOR SMALL SELFISH REASONS EVERYONE HAS TO THINK ABOUT THE SOCIETY AS A WHOLE,NOT INDIVIDUALS. WE SHALL BE BROAD MINDED OVERALL. SUCH SELFISH PEOPLE ARE ENIMIES OF OF THEIR OWN COMING GENERATIONS , WHY DON'T THEY UNDER STAND.
