In today's media-saturated world, every party to the conflict can spread their message. Countless TV stations, internet sites and weblogs have cropped up in recent years. But the dramatic rise in media access has not led to better knowledge or understanding. The conflicting parties hold fast to their hostile perceptions. Propaganda outweighs journalism, prejudice defeats dialog.
Can the media contribute to a solution?

I agree to the fact that media has a role to play by presenting the facts rather than debating on it.

media today is regarded as the fourth pillar of democracy,so its really childish to doubt and ignore the power or i should say transforming power of media can not be questioned.Media should work impartially to expose the evil faces of our democracy and uncover the corrupt officials.Today only media can change indian scene of politics and society. It has been doing its work quite in a good manner but it must be really hard and proactive against the anti-nation forces.

i agree with you. more media doesn't necessarily mean more literacy, sadly. people are averse to reading, pictures replace copy as more and more people resent reading and literacy.

There was a strong sense that the media has a responsibility to focus on peace journalism (as opposed to “war journalism”) as a tool for influence and a catalyst for positive change in the world’s conflict zones. I personally think journalists have a responsibility to tell the truth and by remaining true to that responsibility, the rest will likely care of itself.

I think that media have also helped to kill. New media are also being used by terrorists, white supremacists, and so on to communicate and coordinate, so it is a double-edged sword.
