Yes their's possibility as most people follow success ful people, and most of the succuful people follow it and been followed by their followers and so on, I am follower of Robin sharma, Jim rohn, chriss widner, Rohn white, patric chan, and many more successful people. what i have seen that they all have been followed on Twitter. Now the reason i am telling about successful people is because, flow of following is more for successful people then the common people.

Whether it is twitter or facebook, there would some time in near futuer, the un used profiles will make these networking sites to rethink the model. this is going to happen. This sites are killing personal life and making social to the public. in my openion both are same and not good personal life.

I think the whole appeal of Twitter is it will have a smoother transition in terms of experience to a mobile enviroment. It doesn't have to be rich in terms of experience and the users will not have a hard time transitioning.

I don't think twitter can beat facebook for another couple of years for many reasons. The total users of twitter currently is 200 million whereas facebook is equipped with more than 750 million users. Twitter is only a platform to add your thoughts in a condensed manner limiting to 140 characters which is only one among many features of facebook. Moreover, compared to twitter, facebook is more business friendly with many good options to promote one's business and business products. Features like chat, album and video sharing, gaming and many more makes facebook the best social networking site too. I do not find any exclusive feature in twitter with which it can beat facebook. A good competitor, is Twitter. .. @vipin ,, its not about blocking facebook. And not blocking Twitter. . Its about the percentage of facebook in international market . I mean Market share. They have some 99% of market share in online when compared with twitter. Facebook is just like Time Square. You have lot of things with you scattered here and there. Obviously People will love to see colourful things not knowing whether its good or not . Whether its needed or not. But people always love to see Colorful things . The revenue of Facebook is much more when compared with Twitter. So Even in the future , FACEBOOK will be more colorful with all the junks and other stuffs.... But twitter is nothing but a simple text conversation. Even video sharing and lot more there. People still Stick with colors. Its like your comparing APPLE With MICROSOFT. Even apple is market share is less than 1% still it holds its name. @Lavanya ANNA UNIVERSITY STUDENT :P You have to post that in this side. ANNA UNIVERSITY :P Each has its own consumers, and i think both of them are really proud and happy about it. p.s shiv

First off, if the Twitterati, bloggers, journalists and entrepreneurs of the social media world had to pay to use a social media site, most said they would pay to use Facebook (32.2%) closely followed by LinkedIn (29.7%) and Twitter (21.8%). MySpace and Digg were favored by just 1.5% of the social media elite. Facebook is becoming increasingly embedded in Internet users' everyday lives and, as one respondent to Abrams Research's survey of social media leaders put it, "[Facebook is] better than my godforsaken landline, which I pay for every month and wonder why". But, when the social media leaders were asked what social media service they would advise a business pay for, Twitter came out on top with almost 40% of respondents. The micro-blogging site beat Facebook over two to one and left MySpace in the dust because, said the experts, it offers "instantaneous feedback from and interaction with customers/users" and because "the ability to broadcast and give a business a "voice" is powerful marketing."

I think still twitter has to go far to compete with Facebook. Facebook is immensely popular evrywhr. Exciting applications and features make facebook a complete social networking website. Its far more interactive and appealing than twitter.

From my point of view though twitter is getting popularity but still it can't beat facebook, the reason is as a social networking site it is very addicting to all generation of people who want to stay in touch with friends all the time. it is easy to use and as well as easy to find your old friends here. And the various online gaming facilities makes it more attracting.

I agree with some people who is against the discussion. Because in my opinion, FaceBook can not be beaten. Because it is full of standard. There are lots of facilities which have been provided to the user. These are easy to use and easily understandable by new user. And all the facilities related to twitter it have all ready. So i think Twitter can not beat Facebook.

all these speculations are totally wrong...how can u even compare twitter with facebook? both are different kinda applications with different purposes...twitter is meant for microblogs (the so called tweets)... FB is miles ahead in terms of blogs and has more users with great options

I have the same suggestion twitter will never able to beat facebook. Facebook is wiser, cool, many options and user friendly. The Graphic looks elegant, awesome when compared with Titter. Titter has to devlop a lot, atleast the graphic side should be developed.

The product called Twitter , in principle, never was a substitute to facebook, let alone prospects of it replacing facebook. The real reason why facebook is so popular, in my opinion, is because it satiates the voyeuristic tendencies inherent in humans across the board. Like peek into your favorite boy/girl's profile, and get yourself refreshed. Facebook also has a nostalgic appeal to it when someone reconnects with old buddies, share pics etc. Twitter doesnt even come close. Yeah but Twitter would definitely partly eat into timeshare facebook enjoyed till date.

I completely agree with your argument . Facebook will always be ahead than Twitter . Facebook is like an E-ADDA for everyone of us. We can enjoy and and gossip with our friends on the facebook like we do in our college, offices and our "Big Addaas". Apart from that, applications in the facebook prove to be a good time-paas. On the other hand Twitter is sightly uneasy to use and does not provide features as compared to facebook. Moreover Twitter, in our country is just used as a "Status Symbol" by the celebrities and is used as a publicity media. This is the primary use of Twitter in our country. Old friends reunion and "masti" can only happen on facebook.

Actually both twitter and facebook are both social networks. People using twitter and facebook because of developing a social network between people whom they may not known previously. But, there is both pros and cons between the two. Both are good, in my opinion.

No Chance with the features and theme Facebook has got, a "Something new" Might beat it...not sure thou....it is indeed going to be a very much an impossible competition now for sure.... The reason is Facebook has set a kind of trend into Networking and a "Trademark" for Social Networking....So it looks way too possible to beat it.... YES problem like Privacy setting Against Facebook May help Twitter for sure....but that is just the possibility...

Facebook offers additional features as compared to Twitter. Additionally, the number of users are increasing on a regular basis as compared to Twitter. Twitter is predominantly used for communicating using byte sized messages. In Canada – Facebook is becoming the 2nd national identity card – and is more dominant on a per capita basis than the United Kingdom. However, there are privacy issues related to Facebook, which it has failed to address completely. Finally, in order for a leader to sustain itself, it has to constantly focus on its customers. As Facebook is young and it is very confident, it is growing rapidly but it is not focusing fully on the customers. This aspect if capitalized by Twitter may help it to increase its user base. However, its features are limited as compared to Facebook. Thus, some more innovation from Twitter could increase its customer base further. In the short term, it appears that Facebook may continue to lead but the long term can indicate many surprises.....

Facebook and Twitter are totally running on totally different area, even though they have lot of similar social attributes. But the concept behind Twitter is micro blogging or almost social blogging . And the Facebook for Facebook is Social networking (still good enough to touch in market even though it dying day by day). So the Twitter backbone is so weak compare to Facebook. Twitter can beat Facebook for its number of users, not for its number of active users, or at least number serious users. Also twitter is too failure to introduce new features to attract new users as well to keep its existing users alive. So i think it’s really hard them to Beat Facebook.

No. I dont think so. Its like comparing Apples & Oranges. If Twitter is Like SMS then Facebook is like a Mobile service. They cannot be compared. Each has its own value.
