My basic question was "Why do we need a leader"? Can't we be our own leader..

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQUoHaiAvpqeWa-7EexslSEDdJWKM9sBXDGzKuvPwW_--C6djXl&t=1

Leader - One who take the initiative and guides, plans and makes us do whatever we are suppose to do.

We often say that we are our own masters but still we need someone to lead us, to guide us towards success and with time we realize that if the leading mentor is actually in our favor we make our way to the top at the right time.

Many might say that well, we can be our own leader infact we are.. All of them need to prove it how.. The answer to my question does not come in yes or no.. but simply take a side you think more suitable and add your valuable comment which may explain what do you think..

Perhaps we can but we just don't think about things like taht. We have clear vision of things going on in others life but not in our own. We think we need a motivational factor and fail to discover it in our own selves.. Life is difficult and we try to complicate it more and then look for a savior who can show us it is simpler than what we think it is..

We can be our own leader in in making lot of personal choices that mould our life, but when working for organizations one should learn to follow ones leader there.

The person who is master of his mind, body and soul can become a leader of himself and others. It is said that one, out of five persons has leadership abilities. But it is true up to certain extent. There are certain areas where we need leader as a decision maker or a representative. For example; everyone can not go to parliament. Nice debate. Thanks.

In the games of different types several are participating but everybody can not become first. Similarly, working in organizations there are team leaders or dept heads. However when people are more expert in their respective field of work they become themselves as leaders, but all have to contribute to achieve the common goal of the company. When one is dedicated and expert in his assigned job, his leader/dept head consults him to have his opinions. Under the circumstances he is equated with his boss by virtue of his expertness. The leaders should not have the ego or should not think they know everything. To become a leader one has to gain knowledge & experience in the particular field to get the the things done by others. Hence one should focus on his strength and weakness and he should take corrective measures to be followed accordingly to take the lead.

Thanks Ms.Sonam Kapoor for the referral.

Thanks Sonam 4 invite.

We can very much our own leaders.

If you are working in a team then all the leaders will go in different directions and there will not be anything achieved collectively.ie if one person goes to the East and other person will head to the West. The Resultant effort is zero.

So we don't want individual leaders ie one person leading the only other person. But when it comes to the Team, where work is distibuted among individual members(say leaders)then we definitely require a team leader/project leader to integrate the individual work done by his/her team members to produce an unified work piece.

Five factors that define leaders who are capable of change. If you possess these factors, you can be your own: Leaders define their vision; they’re not defined by it. They have self-confidence, not an overblown ego. They’re self image is consistent with reality. They’re focused and driven, but also adaptable and flexible. They still have skin in the game, a passion that drives them to succeed. HAPPY TO BE A SELF-PROCLAIMED LEADER!

yes very much if we dont tell ourselves what is to be done how can we do anything.so we have to lead ourselves, set goals & move in that direction.discipline is requiredto do this. yes we need guidance & inspiration from another person say a guru, mentor, leader etc to show us the right path. but remember you have to first start & get going.

Sonam,i agree with you that "life is like" that. We need leader just for performance and appreciation. The leader can be a person.your own spouse, yourself, your child, and your mentor.

Sonam though I agree with your point of view but feel it will be of no help since if you think deeply everybody is his or her leader but in a country of billion plus population what you want to accomplish by becoming self leader will not help.

Hi, Sonam, I'm supporting ur vision and instead waiting for some one to lead us we should lead the others. Every body wants to shed the reponsibility on others but should be capable enough for shouldering the responsibility.

hi Sonam,

well i m not supporting u in this debate but i m support the "yes" b'coz u r mixing the two different way of doing work in a working life

1. In Case of Job:-

In our job until our main boss is not die & every thing (complete authority) of our company is comes under us till we are not b'cm our own leader

2. In case of Business:-

you are owner of your business simple

b'coz at present also i m a paid servant (i m not completely our own leader) in airlines company & also running my own small scale IT business (where i m boss)

Be it self or a team, in moments of despair or lack of motivation, we need guidance and encouragement and that is what leaders do. They guide, motivate and encourage when the chips are down. Otherwise each one of us are our own born leaders, we do not look upto a leader to take a decision in life. We only look upto them when our own mind is confused and an external thought is needed to stimulate us towards the right path. Thats why you need a leader and thats what leaders do. Even leaders themselves need to look up to their fellow peers or ones above them to guide them in their moments of distress.

If the activity concerns self ....sure one can yet if activity requires more than one person to be involved, it is essential to have a leader, who knows better, brings knowledge and skill to take all those believing, to mandated destination with minimum risks in achieving the objective.

Yes we should not wait for some one to lead us we should lead the others. Every body wants to shed the reponsibility on others but should be capable enough for shouldering the responsibility.

One who joins a group with intention of becoming group leader most ofen breaks group or increase conflict.

One can be self sufficient to do all he want to do and that is very benificial, But leader means the one who is on the front, if there is no follower how can one be a leader, if everyone would like to be a leader there would not be any group and there will be more conflicts between people.

No. Why should someone be afraid of being lead? Let me explain my point with Cricket. Dhoni is captain, a leader, rest everyone got to follow. Point is even Tendulkar don't want to be a leader. He want to be a doer and a team player. We shouldn't be our own leader, because we have a goal to achieve as part of the team. Let contribute to the team and let the leader decide upon the goal and path. Being a team member, we should not be afraid to take the role of a leader, when the team/situation demands.

Every individual is a Leader on his sphere of life. But, to achieve a common goal for the group or , in simple term a common desire that needs a mind to co-ordinate / materialize on ground, needs a Leader. A leaderless group is like a scattered body (limbs, hands, heads, legs etc isolate ).
