Yes genuine products can be sold genuinely. Sales men lie when the product is not good and just to push it into the market they bluff about the product....

The concept of sales in classical marketing term involved the "product concept". We are dealing with marketing approach now. We can definately create need, thats not lying but bringing an "Augumented need" to act like "core benefit". That is not lying that is just a shift of need. At the end of the day its the product which a buyer buys and not lies. The more you push more he repells. Just let the customes identify his need. Study your customer and let him decide whats best for him. Just help him and do not force.

Definitely, it can possible to sell product without lying. That's why we are taliking about customer relationship management. Faith should maintain between company- employee-customers-consumers.It is difficult to maintain in current scenario, i agreed that many company's sales person to manager are lying towards customers/consumers. Politics is much important factor in corporate that we know very well.Nothing is impossible but difficult.

yes, a product or service can be sold without false promises or misled info. infact, there could be the usage of white lies which in marketing parlance is widely legitimate.. in today's environment, when infinite products/services are vying with eachother for survival, its only natural for people behind the products to take short cut methods to stay afloat..

Depends on the product life if it is short lived you can not but will have to lie and if you want it to be sustainable and profitable on a longer run better show the truth and let the product prove itself to attract customers.

Selling a product or service doesn't mean lying all the time. Selling a product or service means meeting the needs or demands surged from a particular segment. In few decads ago salesman were considered to be "cheater" but no longer now.Custmers, nowadays, are aware about what's happening around them, & who could offer them value for money, so cheating or lying to them will lead a company to nowhere. The focus of every business is shifting from selling to scoring brownie points by means of customer relationship management.

If you want only one time sale. Then lies will pay.

                       BUT

If you look forward to sales in the coming days and a steady growth of your organization, then don't depend on lies. Ensure the quality of goods and make only true claims about the product. Only this will help you in the long run. Lie has short legs. it will not help you in the long run.

Yes.Sales is a profession which doesn't keep any boundaires to restrict your thoughts for selling a product/service. Though it deals with numbers pretty often,it doesn't mean that you have to lie on what you sell just to accomplish your target. The reason being, every new business would not only adds value to your organisation but also plays a vital role in increasing the reputation of it.Any sale made of being straight to your prospects would definitely be valued high.Hence, its not necessary to lie for selling the product/service.

If the customer has 5 needs and my product can cater to only 1 compared to the competitor's 4. I as a sales person would try making that 1 need most essential compared to the rest, to sell my product. Now if this is lying then there is very little sales with out lies. But blatantly giving wrong info about a product is a definite NO NO.

Like the advise in topic if we lye about anything we are selling, the reality will come out soon, and you will stand as looser. Goodwill will be badly affected that is what is counted more in present days.
