Today the technology is changing so much that, things that you think is latest and by the time you buy., there will be something else that comes out in the market, and most of the time customers are in dilemma with so much innovation that is happening.

In regard to innovation, today i am talking about cars. There are fuel efficient cars, alternative fuel cars, diesel cars, petrol cars, flying cars and now the world will have “The Talking Cars.” One might have seen these things only in sci-fi movies but then it is soon becoming a reality due to efforts of scientists like Dr. Bhibhya Sharma and Dr. Utesh Chand who  are working on Talking Cars at the University of the South Pacific. These scientists are working on a concept that implements mathematical equations instructing the driver to change lanes for better and safer driving experience.

What remains to be seen is that how soon the scientists are able to apply the same to commercially available cars and how much will the new technology make the existing cars more expensive? So guys would like to know your views on Talking cars: Will this concept work?.

Dear Mr. Sudeep,

By talking cars, I understand that, in place of (or in addition to) visible indicators, the car will give "Audible signal" in terms of "pre-recordable" message about fuel level, seat belts fastening, door not closed properly etc...

This signal system is working in process plant automation for safe and efficient plant running. This can very well be adopted in cars.

Cars already do that. Cars already tell you if there is a car in your left you cant see. It can tell you you forgot your key in the ignition. It can tell you the lights are on when you leave the car. It can tell if you didn't close the doors properly. It can tell if you jump lanes. Cars can already to a lot of that.

Infact there are cars in the market already that can drive itself for over 80% of the distance.

I really don't want a lady voice tag attached to the car, to shout at me every time i do a mistake.  Its very distracting and annoying at the best.

We already have technology in place wherein the automobile interacts with the passenger depending upon various external inputs & surrounding. With time these will be intensively used to enhance safety & emergency services. It will be more of use on the highways wherin the transit speeds are very high & many times we need more inputs than just our vision to make split second  decisions. But i doubt if the same will be usefull in cities ( till the time same has been incorportated on all ( e.g. trucks, autos, buses etc)

Dear Mr. Prakash, you are right, indeed, in these type of cars there will be "Audible signal" with "pre-recordable" message about fuel level in place of visible indicators. Also, if this process has been introduced, it will be a very well adopted in cars. I think this process might work...

According to me I think this concept will work out and in todays scenario there is no end to what is called Luxury and a car that can drive itself and can talk will fit the bill perfectly for many, but then ofcourse cost would be a problem, as this sort of technology cannot be used by common man, the price factor is the problem in new innovations if this technology is developed in a way where it is available for all this could prove very useful as there is Accidents happening every now and then so interms of safe driving this technology would be handful.

i think this wont work as the technology which we are talking here will be more costly and why we want cars which talk and drives itself in the first place, it would save more money and energy if we use public transport for that matter, and let us have cars the way it is and innovation can be interms of GPS and better security and better usage of fuel or the alternate usage of fuel for the cars and not cars which can talk.
