Advt. means promoting sales whatsoever the technique you follow. No body gives an advt. just like that. It costs the advertiser.Elite youngster may be lured easily by these advt. Because they are prone to use web2.0. It helps promote a mania & a snobbery circle.Thereby it advances the use of Cigars.

Have ads for banning dowry, child labour, eliminate corruption etc. had any impacts. If your answer is no ! then its the same here. People wanting to smoke a cig will do it any which way. whether u advertise on u tube or not. There is no point in being naive about the whole thing. One has to look at the broader perspective. Good parenting will ensure your children dont smoke.

Sorry, so far I have not seen any such ad on net which can lead to enhance the sale of cigarettes, not even a parallel communication like in the case of liquor sale where an add is given for a soda bearing the names of famous liquor brand. In case somebody has seen such parallel communications from cigarette manufacturing or marketing company, I would personally like to know that

We can not say it will not impact, any advertisements will normally have its own impact and will create some vibration in the minds of people. Here the peculiarity is that there is a statutory warning " SMOKING IS INJURIOUS TO HEALTH" and similarly for alcohol consumption, the govt is not taking any steps to stop manufacturing those items since it wants revenue from the sale proceeds. Thanks for the referral Ms.Disha Roy.

Absolutely not. I think all of us are responsible adults and to say that i get an urge to smoke just by seeing an ad on the web or tv or wherever is being naive. We are not fooling anyone but ourselves by saying that. Would you get the urge to do so many other things that are advertised freely on the web ? the answer is absolutely not , then why smoking alone. I think both the tobacco and liquor industries are favourite bashing grounds for people. If something is wrong in society, blame it on them and take the easy way out. Cmon lets grow up and find out the real reason why someone smokes or drinks - it is basically due to peer influence and bad parenting. I think each one of us are equally responsible for someone smoking. Well, its another thing that if you destroy all the tobacco crops in the world, then there wouldnt be any product in the first place to smoke !

Advertisements generally have an impact on people at the subliminal level which may or may not trigger changes in the individual based on the stimuli received from the environment. As people see more of these ads, they will be inclined to try out some of the things / ideas shown in the ads. Subsequently, they will become dependent on the things / ideas shown in the ad. That is the general premise on the basis of which organizations advertise various ideas/opinions on a regular basis and repeat the ads frequently to build awareness, increase impact and draw customers. This has also been observed by various social psychologists over a period of time as part of various experiments conducted on these types of behavior. However, this only affects those members who already are inclined to try out a new idea/thing or who may be influenced by the ads to try out these ideas. If the member is not inclined and cannot try out the idea due to personal circumstances unless compelled, the impact will be minimal. Thus, it is preferable to restrict the advertisement of the ads in Web 2.0 media to the extent possible.......

Disha I agree with you but in India if any celebrity is being used in a ad flim with cigarette there is a possibility some body perticularly in interior will try and smoke, After all it is India. If this is the case with Newzealand i agree everybody understands what is what but probably not in India.
