Fear based performance works in disciplined force. Even coveted civil servants believe in fear based performance. Hardly find the commitment in such atmosphere. They work so mechanically. In commitment based performance, the sense of belongingness motivate the employee work with commitment. However, the organisational culture shall provide such atmosphere.

I think Commitment based performance creates energy to finish that commitment in timeline or in else manner if you did commitment by searching your self thoroughly. Over Committed people always have to face failure in their life, so i would say depend upon our commitment performance will decide and also it will create opportunity for our self to achieve more then past.

Both has to look at different angles.. the Commitment based performance depends on various factors which requires a thorough homework before you opt for commitment based performance, if something doesn't fall in line as you planned leads to fear based performance

Commitment-based performance is the preferred option to fear-based performance. This will instill in every stake-holder the confidence, sense of belonging and timely completion of set task. Having said that, this method does not work where time and cost over-runs were already reported and the very edifice of the organisation on shaky grounds due to that! Both are situation dependent!

Ignoring a fight may be a timebeing solution, but the anger gets built up and as a result may erupt someday, so its better to have wordy war for sometime on somthing rather than have it over once for all
If there is ignorance shown in maintainance of performance then too you are driving away from success, since you have developed an attitude that believes that no one can compete with me is something which will be an obstacle in your success.
