From business, industry and consumer point of view competition is more important ! It leads to advance of technology, services, products, keep prices in check !! Co-operation reeks of utter corruption and add to it, it is the corporate corruption which is not answerable to general populace and customer.

Co-operation will be very much like a leftist economic model but difference being in communist model the power vests in self appointed -government whose aim is to build a welfare state while in this case the power would vest in powerful capitalists ! though i am big fan of capitalism but I do doubt ethos of capitalists ! Also, cooperation will bring virtual monopoly in market which is hated everywhere in world ! Therefore competition is best, it would keep the corporates in their own battles, will push them to invest in R and D, to improve products technologies etc ! And people still wonder why is India so behind in developing new technology and patent filings because till 90s we were "co-operating" though with government in this case !

why would industry not like cooperation ? Because human by nature is competitive and likes to have free will in decision making, cooperation will not give him this chance !!so as time will go, co-operation will fall out !! though co-operation may be good for an hypothetical ideal world with humans having no greed and no selfish character ! so industries one day will feel suffocated due to lack of free will in decision making !

Sometimes it can be a little bit or a lot of both. It all depends on what you are cooperating for or competing for.

From Business & Industry point of view, cooperation is more important, as it ensures productivity and economy to the organizations.

But, from the consumer point of view competition is more important, as it ensures quality and value of goods and services at economical rates.

Since the question does not provide any middle option, I have to record my support for the competiion also on the other side from the point of view of the consumers.

Co-operation is a socialistic way of resource generation and sharing,

Competition is capitalistic, market oriented way of looking at resource sharing and generating wherein you create newer process methods to produce goods services or reaching out to other fellow human beings, innovative technology to create new standard, 3G, 4G Windows 7. Earlier we did not have blogs, today we have so many of them they are in competition and also in co-operation, we can login to toostep with facebook id PW.

  1. The above is the beauty of market economics, you may like to shit on it go ahead.

Competition catalyses new standards, level, pumps up the market, creates hypes, to steady this level  for making sustained commercial gain cooperation is needed within team, departments, organization and within the industry.

The balancing act creates new paradigm.

To have competition alive we need Co-operation. For having your team, or attrition poaching.

Thank you Arpita

Healthy Competion will always show us the path of success. By competion we create Benchmark for ourself and measure where we stand. Competitions gives us standards and if we successfully accept it as a challenge then we will definately get success. But the main thing competition should be healthy.

Talent is nurtured in collaboration in competive environments. It is the feedback on how much you already master and which development potential you still have that is driving talent into preformance and innovation.

Separating these two things is like separating your body from your head and believe that is it possible to put them back together.

Without comptetion you do not really grow as fast as possible. Without collaboration you cannot do much in any area of life.

Life is never either or. It is both and. In business we tend to forget that everything has at least two sides and that we need to understand both of them and to understand how they interact.
