Ever since Google disclosed in January that Internet intruders had stolen information from its computer, the exact nature and extent of the theft has been a closely guarded company secret. But a person with direct knowledge of the investigation now says that the losses included one of Google's crown jewels, a password system that controls access by millions of users worldwide to almost all of the company's Web services, including e-mail and business applications.

Web Application are used to be developed using stringent safety - at least robust ones like the names above. These employ the techniques of encryption which again uses different algorithms - usually un-disclosed. The applications make the doors fortified. But, wait, why these sort of intrusions happen is not only because of lapses in the application itself. Rather, some of the added functionalities are developed using various other platforms which at times are prone to user vigilance. If user uses those gates as leisurely handled tools - those invite the thieves.

Gates are to remain shut; if they are not properly closed what are those meant for then? Here, I am trying to point the fact out that people at large are reckless about their passwords. They provide the loop holes to sneak-in. On an average at least 90% persons don't follow guidelines for passwords. Further, they don't pay heed to the strength of the passwords.

If you will let the doors open in nights when everyone in your house is sleeping then if thief has not plundered means they did not got the clue about the opportunity in your house. If they get the booty then at least you should not complain - weighing your alertness in safeguarding your own house.

We, at large, have developed the habit of not maintaining the minimum vigilance with the notion that other should respect my possession. On the other hand, we human try to hit the bulls-eye twice, when we find easy targets. This happens with any of the application.

Okay doors are made up of steels but, whats the use if it has not been closed properly and left open. How can its strength be utilized to safeguard?

Hence, it is not the failure of application per se rather, we as an user contribute to its failure as well.
