Cyber crime, is there a way out?

Sony is facing the biggest data breach and even the bank account details of the people is out. the consequences can be severe and a lot damage has been done. We trust a company for our confidential information and here we are, left wihtout a clue of what to do!!

I don't know if there is a way out of this. If someone knows what should we do to protect ourselves against such crimes then please come forward.

Thanks Jenifer for referal. The only way out that I can foresee is precaution and more precaution. Checking and double checking. Banking frauds are there but we have to learn to live with them. Same is the case here we have to learn to live with them. We can not stop cyber crime. We can control it. Govt is taking steps to control them. But we as a lay man have to learn to live with them.

I cant see any wayout to such crimes, its better to surf the net carefully and report any suspicious emails or transactions to nearby cyber crime authority officer.

Security loopholes enable a bad hacker get into the company site and get the information one needs.  The company should employ ethical hackers to keep checking the security loop holes and take steps to cover them.

Cyber Crime is the new crime posing great threat to the individuals and the law enforcing agencies as well. The lower level officers and their supporting staff in Police Department does not have adequate knowledge about the technology. There are separate cells being created to deal with this crime in Crime Investigation Department and crime cells of major city Police wings. As far as C.I.D. of Andhra Pradesh, it is well equipped to trace the accused basing on the IP address and URL as well. We being individuals must be careful enough. Dont become a prey and try not respond to the luring mails. We call it as Nigerian fraud. Be cautious while divulging information responding to the e-mails u receive. No bank asks for your account details for confirmation. Dont respond to such mails. Especially for ladies, those who are members on Facebook, Orkut and other such social media must not give their full identity.  Maintaining utmost caution is the only way out.

this is the rule that if something is not very near to us and go far it becomes public from private. data posted in server and as the cloud computing is in existence the data is far from you and hence going to be public with the constraints. like your collegue can not see data but your server administrator can see your data. and can also leak data. it can not be stop now.

Thanks for referring Jenifer...yet a very complex and difficult question to answer...the only remedy to cybercrime can be protecting ourselves which can protect our immediate family,our neighbourhood and our country...inclusion of internet safety curriculums in schools,cybercrime prevention discussion groups, education programs tailored to various age groups can bring in good results...the safety of all netizens, the individual computer users across the globe ,depends on each computer user to maintain the security of their home, office and government computers ,their personal safety and safety of their personal information.

i don't think there is way to out of cyber crime.few months before Pakistan's hacker had intruded in our national army securities's web site and left some message. that was big issue of our nation security but that was breaches. so these type of small things like bank's account and other things have no assurance.
