Hosting server applications inside virtual image is all the rage today. The ability to quickly move a virtual server from one machine to another as needs change is a big win for IT departments. But can this be applied to heavyweight systems like SQL Server?

Yes, This will be supported for SQL SERVER. Already we are using this in our environment.

Database Virtualization is the future of any RDBMS. This will make the management work easy and also the single point of administration. The physical level of databases load can be distributed based on need but theend user access and administration will be more accurate, predictable, easy to deploy, security, etc. Lots of future is there.

The dependency will be availability of vertual server must be 100% which is a challange is very large environment.

At the end of the day i would support database virtualization and i believe that it can be achieved. break up the debate question to that it can responded efficiently

After doing a good amount of research on database virtualization still there is a lack of precise information and clear implementation. I'm not sure on that so please provide your inputs....

I think so that Database Virtualization is not total worth, because for it we need each and every database like Oracle, MySQL, MS-SQL etc. to come on an one platform, also cost of creating virtual database and actual database, if there will be one physical databse for a group of different databases than the load on one physical database will high which can do bottolneck the performance of a physical database.
