Every time especially in India it is observed that whomever dares to show the truest picture is condemned brutally for doing so, my question to the common public is why so? Did we ever stopped to notice that all the mishaps happened the rich section comes to limelight because they can draw media and have sold their ethics long ago to become rich? Did we ever stopped to care for the person who is lying on the roadside, beaten by thugs? We only feared that for sure there will be a police intervention on the matter. Did we ever tried to protest and get united against a group brutally beating one person? We always found it safer to be a spectator and go to respective homes after the show of blood shed was over. Do we even understand that a group of 5-6 persons is never stronger than a crowd of 25-30 persons? How far will we go in blaming the police and system? Moreover the police can't reach the spot in an instant, can they? So stop complaining and start working..........

Tina I cant agree with your perception. We as citizens have certain responsibilities. One need to understand the society we live in and adopt ourselves to the society. Blindly imitating the western culture without weighing the pros and cons of it, may lead to this kind of results. Police are not the custodians of our personal safety.

People with experience can understand what safety means for them.Every place is unsafe one lands up in an uncertain unsafe claimate.Poor police they are ill equipped and their role is to ensure that there is harmony and peace generally and not suited for safety of every individual.they cannot even if they are made to do. the reason is that. even in delhi take the stock of the police strength for the people living in Delhi. One will understand that the total strength is just not the worth to take on safety for each and every individual. safty is each and everybody's responsibility and one hasto take care of themselves and not depend on police.MR kaliamurthy is right in saying so. regards

I read the advise as an ingenuity to follow self restraint from ,unnecessarily, getting into trouble. Venturing out unnecessarily, normally brings in more probability for ones' safety & security. Taking adequate precaution from preventing one from getting into trouble is no harm & is welcome for peaceful living.

What is wrong in this!.. i wonder why you take this restriction only on women. The same thing applies on everybody. Even men! I am not against your views.. that women should be as free as men. I agree. But the biggest problem in supporting such points is unfortunately, women groups are smart and shrewd enough to add such problems only up to their gender's comfort zone and rights, however actually such problems are common to every citizen of India. Actually the type of independence you are asking for can only happen once India is able to fulfill the needs of every citizen..as it happens in other advanced countries to some extent. So we need to work and wait unless India is a really hi-tech nation. And your argument.. if a rich man is showing off his wealth openly.. say he has tonnes of gold and money..and showing it openly. Answer is, yes he is RESPONSIBLE if he gets robbed in case he is doing it very openly in some theft prone area.

No but what else can they do to hide their inefficiencies. And if they get time from licking their political bosses, only then can they patrol the streets. Till then such statements will have to do !

Infact police and administration should be blamed for this. Police by taking bribe of 50 or 100 Rs have lost their fear in the criminals and now criminals are not caring the police any more because they knows they are salable. Its really a critical stage that no body is safe in Delhi. Though the Mumbai Police is also corrupt but they have their impression and fear in the public and criminals too. Administration should pull up their socks and police should create a best image so that they can gain the good name.

Tina even a police woman is not safe in Delhi particularly at night. I think if asked Police will also claim so. Sad state of affairs and some body should accept responsibility for any untoward incident. Who will be it?

Yes, a woman travelling alone in Delhi isn't safe. Not only woman but also anyone. At present Delhi is most crimed Metro city.Police Commissioner should work out something to increase its security rather than increasing his speeches as City is not even safe during day times.

While we talk about women liberty, we cannot expect the law enforcing agency to monitor every citizen, given the number of VVIPs in the capital are on rise, with the limited police force to handle. The Police Commissioner has declared indirectly that he has onerous duty to protect the families of VVIPs round-the-clock and send forces to evict sleeping innocents in the wee hours! Its time, they change their slogan "For you, with you, always" to "for them, with them, always"!
