Teachers do mould the habits ,tastes, and character of students by imparting knowledge and information . In order to discharge the duties effectively ,they have to possess certain qualities like good academic background ,professional efficiency ,strong personality and so on......In this context , a training is very necessary in order to mould the teachers to make them become professionally competent .

So, do you consider a teacher to be the maker of man............kindly post your valuable arguments.

YES--- the teacher is the maker of man . Vs NO--- because most students are not inclined to learn.

I think Yes.

In today's environment , almost every teenager understands that education gives many more opportunities than were available 30 years back , when only government jobs were attractive , and the only private job opportunities were in engineering and medicine.

Today , there are thousands of other career options. In all of these merit is the main consideration.

Earlier , even a mediocre student could get into a bank , through contacts. Today , the competition is so fierce , contacts alone cannot get one anywhere. One needs to have a basic level of competence and knowledge.

So , in today's environment , the teacher's role is even more important. The good student can learn despite a bad teacher , but a mediocre student is dependent on the teacher to a greater extent. At least at the school level , the teacher is the maker of the student.

I would say incompetent teachers recruitment, as best teachers are not available for jobs. More than that the low pay structure and incentives from the government and improper academic goals that does not help a student in their getting employability.nay, the complacency that sets in teachers and educational community to only work for the best students who score better and sing their laurels at the cost of these students to build their brand name for their business development.Exceptions are there where some private schools do maintain the standards but overall the aim is a rat race for marks only with centums . Students and parents too fall prey to these pressures.

No one can depend on teachers nowdays, as described here by Mr. Srinivas. And that makes a Pupil to join Tution classes compulsory to score higher ranks.

Teaching has become a profession to earn money like anyother job. Teachers are not really showing any interest in educating the young. Leaving their responsibility they are preoccupied with other activities to utilise their leisure time to earn more money. They are becoming the centre of politics. The reservations in education sector is another problem. There is less to comment on schools under private management. Its only a big profit making business for them. Standards have no place in their agenda.

Deterioration is due to stereotypic teaching methods. Most of the teachers in under-graduate level and high education lack industrial exposure and they vomit only what they have learnt through books and other modes, therefore lacks conviction in what they teach. At times, complex queries are handled with aggression. This is not their fault. Our system of education is such even for the researchers they have to go through red-tapism if they want quick finance to buy equipment or other research material. Their quota for purchase is also too small to really conduct experiments. What Sir C.V. Raman spent in getting his theory right, to validate his postulates, the US had to spend manifold. Competence comes from exposure - lack of time, lack of commitment, lack of finance, lack of initiative by the management, and above all, lack of "noble thought" are responsible or this state of affairs.

If knowledge and competence of the teacher is poor ,then there occurs motivational crisis among the students to gain access to quality education .

I think people are not inclined to learn. Education is more of a business in the world of industrialization and automation. We actually don't have the demand of good education instead we only want certain degree to get the job. This is turn makes the degree important then the teacher himself.
