To Technology supporters, What India has is abundant unskilled manpower. The manpower which can't produce and generate economic resource to the country. I completely disagree total emphasis on technology. Technology is just a tool and to use the tool, to develop the tools we need skilled manpower. Some hard facts below: 1.99% of engineers don’t know the actual relevance of differentiation and integration in Mathematics. They would have actually cleared it in ther semester exams and probably be working in Infosys right now. 2.90% of fresh mechanical engineers don’t know SPC, 6 sigma concepts, line balancing, basics of bearing, spring or gear design. 3.99% of software engineers in India are not capable of engineering, even remotely conceptualizing anything equivalent to windows (operating system).Experienced software engineers do not more than providing patch work to overseas R&D work. 4 . A 6th graded Japanese/German student studies what our 99% MBA kids study in India. i.e including Marketing management and OR.Thus they manpoly the mechatronics and auto market worldwide. We have very less mathematicians, Physicist and Engineers with entrepreneur skills. The above three are the backbone of scientific advancement of any country. Thus greater emphasis on Manpower is required: Its education, skill enhancement, Grants to universities for R&D is essential. From skilled manpower results technology and innovation, thus prosperity of a nation and not vice versa. Thus your premise stating that we have abundant manpower but no technology doesn’t hold good.(Comments appreciated)

In India, you see currently there is a population of more than 100 crores, and you can find more manpower than technology. If manpower is used in right direction India can be developed faster, technology can give boost to it, but alone it is not sufficient.

yes manpower is required more because our manpower is used by other countries so those countries have good technology but if we use our manpower for us then no other country can even stand besides India.

its very subjective to support either side, but i think technology got upper hand as it can open the new opportunities. Beginning of computer era is one of the example where technology opened the gate of employment contrary to the then common belief that computerization will increase unemployment.

There is a basic fallacy in this topic. No amount of manpower or technology will help, unless WE HAVE SKILLED MANPOWER. That is where India lags behind the west. We are good in some spheres like IT, but in most other areas we have a dearth of skilled manpower. This is what needs to be focussed upon.

i think both are required. we need good technology and we need trained people to run it. for today's good position of India its manpower has played a vital role. we at least don't have to import the manpower like some other countries.

Manpower is only one criteria of development of a nation which can be clubed with reduction of unemployment. The other two are poverty aleviation and equality. I think India is playing forward stroke on the backfoot by segregating society and handout of social benifits to divided clusters of high and low caste. It would have been more practical if income demography was the criteria on which the society was selcted forsocial and economic handouts.

Its not man power or technology which is lacking but its the method of implementation that is not right currently. A simple example of this is The Camera's installed in the Traffic signals..... We have the technology and to track and we have the man power to install and run the technology... what we are lacking is the interest in the individuals to follow the traffic rules... everything is there in India. only thing what is lacking is the interest in individuals to make India better... lets not debate on what is there what is not there but start realizing that we need to develop as a individual

This debate itself is out of place. India is still much behind on the terms of technology. With out manpower Technology can never improve. Take an example of Kerala state, The main income of the state is exporting manpower. We will take more years to develop with technology alone.

If Technology is there skill on the manpower wil automaticallly become good in the country like ours, provided the technology is effective. Please dont say manpower any more as we have human resourses trained and educated professionals than any other countries in the world. Please stop this argument with a full stop with technology. thanks and regards

Both technology and manpower are complement to each-other...but when it comes to choose one out of the two technology prevails...we can consider the example of many europian countries which are just like a fraction of indian territory...but are far ahead in world leadership and their precious contribution in our development, culture and today's economy...its quite obvious to everyone that how they achieved their such status in today's world...just a prejudice consideration of it will make technology as winner...!!!

The most important part where India needs to work on immediately. The big example in front of world is China who has such technologies by which no one can compete them as it has both. Saying right now manpower and later technology is wrong. I agree both related but if technology improves it gives more job opportunity. Kerela is exporting manpower where technology if already far better than India. So why exporting that powers to other country. Develop latest technology trends in India and use that manpower here.

Along with manpower, advancements in the technology is equally important. We need to enhanced our tools that we use in our day to day life. Enhancemnets in educational, social and political system is required. Law and enforcemnet for implementation of Law is to be seen. Our political system should replace more intelligent and unbiased people who can focus.

i honestly think its neithr of the two.. but to support i wud go for technology. i feel that india is quite capable and technologically advanced. plz we shudnt always compare our country wit US in terms of tech the basic reason is the r independent country from the yr "1776" that almost 250 yrs and india in comparison to that is jz 60 yr.. so wht i mean to say is India is still very ahead as compared to the years it had...now think abt India sum 250 yrs latr.. The time is for to contain the technology and lay down reforms to improve. coz radical boom is always difficult to contain. its betr to put eyes on reforms and improvement rathr than gainin more and more each day...

We also have technolgy wizards but the policies of successive governments, the reservations, non recognition or non encouragement to merit is driving our techsavy people out that is the draw back, if we can stop the brain drain then we can beat all the nations of the world in no time as one find indians occupying top positions in many a country

Technology and manpower are both equally important for the growth of a nation. However, in this case the more important factor is development of manpower. India has a huge manpower but the development of manpower is low. Thus, unless the manpower is developed, technology cannot be utilized effectively. However, utilization of technology to improve manpower is also another way of looking at this issue. Technological improvements could help to improve manpower development. But the key point is manpower needs to be developed first along with technology and technology can be used as a facilitating factor to further improve and consolidate the developed manpower......

No doubt technology is to be developed in many ways. We have the technology than any other country have, but that is to be suitably and sufficiently implemented with success. For that lot of working is required by our scientiest without caring about the politicians. Govt should give importance for them. Then manpower is always ther and there are skilled and unskilled workers. The competancy of supervisors and engineers are to be checked by high level people.
