Many fmcg products , consumer durables etc are being promoted by the Brand ambassadors, company spend huge amount on them,do we really make our purchases on the basis promotion of the filmstar????

Brand Ambassador is a glamour touch added to the product.If one doesnt want to buy a Product,or is a loyal fan of one company,He/she would never look at the brand Ambassador to buy it.Maruti never used an Ambassador for many years...yet it has always sold its cars ad is best in its service

Majority of purchase is NEED based period!!

Brand ambassadors add that necessary value to a brand because there is a synergy between the brand and the actor. It can at most make people CONSIDER buying the brand but the scale to tip in favor of buying would depend on the utility and price factors!!

Brand ambassadors do add that ZING to titl the balance in favor of the brand that they support, but the buyer is an educated buyer today. Influencing the youth is another story as they are definitely impressed by their idol and would go for the product / brand anyway. But by and large, ambassadors would not necessarily facilitate buying but would at best influence it!!

Intelligent points to debate!! Good one indeed.. :)

To a great extent consumers are influenced by brand ambassadors in purchasing something. This is the reason why TITAN, SAMSUNG, etc; made Aamir Khan as its brand ambassador. It is not so in this case only almost all the super stars from different fields who can influence public are offered by companies to be their brand ambassador.

It is true that the brand ambassadors are the people who brings a value for the brand initially. It is just like a movie collection in box office. If the movie comprises a super star, the initial collection would be huge, but it will drop down once the movie is below standard. So here the Super Star is the initial puller of the crowd to watch the movie. Similarly if there is an ambassador for the brand, he would pull the customers to buy the product initially, but if the product is not good, people will not buy it for the second time or they will not give any mouth publicity. So the consumers definitely get influenced ny the ambassador initially to try out the product/service, the rest depends on product/service quality. Regards, Anna George. Web Analyst. Brand is giving a trust and confidence of a product, consumers during their purchases always give the preference to the Brands,and they know by using in past experience quality of the product, also Brand Ambassadors Company always time to time spending on millions on Market Research of Consumers taste & preferences, to maintained the quality of the product,on the other  hand in a perfect competitive situation these type of activities need to sustained the Market share,therefore,end users also after using the utility satisfaction leads to  repurchases and  influence the Brands during the product purchases.

Consumer purchase a brand rather than a product.So it becomes essential for the companies to introduce brand ambassadors to endorse their products.

well i believe that though most purchases are need based and in time of recession most of the purchases are specific,but given a choice between a product publicized by a brand ambassador and some other market generated product,most would go with the endorsed one.As it gives the satisfaction of being a sturdy and trustworthy purchase which is most sought after at the time of downswings.

i believe that it is naive to think that people buy products due to brand ambassadors. the consumer today is much more evolved & has a very stringent consideration criteria before buying any product. the rules of the game has changed....so brands sit up & notice if you dont want to be dumped.

Yes they do!! .............Simply to make it more expensive.

The higher the fee of brand Ambassdor .........the higher the cost to consumer. 

And since this brand-ambassdor does not add any value to product except on PRICE TAG.

Consumers purchase products which solve an unsolved problem or satisfy an unaddressed need.The Brand Ambassador may,at best, reinforce the consumers perception of the value of the product. Although many persons may buy a product the need that they seek to satisfy out of it may differ from person to person.

it's picking in the new hep culture of our socities created by the new era youth. this is  the prime reason for brand ambassadors being in demand & being paid huge sums of money. Rise in purchasing power & high self esteem are main contributories to "get influenced". these socio-dynamics of our purchases cannot be any longer ingnored by sticking to "getting old" theory of need based purchases.

Of course, when people find their favourites on the board it is obvious that they would prefer the product leaving out  of other brands that provide the same features as the former.That too when brand ambassidor canvases the good qualities of the brand the demand for the product will increase obviously.

The Concept of Brand Endorsing through a Celebrity started in U.S. in 90's. Ever since this trend has started, there has been Immense in the Sales of the Products endorsed by their Ambassadors.

 

Because, there has been a level of Commitment, Service & Trust delivered by those Celebrities/Brand Ambassadors through their Job. The same thing is conceived by the viewers/Consumers of the product due to this Celebrity support.

As per me it does not help,Its all old things,which the the brand companies spending moneys' and offering big andorsements in million-billion dollors,that is totally disgusting as now customers are more intelligent and aware of good product through internet.So,Brand ambasaador does not make sense spending more and more money on celeberaties.

today consumers have many choices in the market & they go through qualities & durability of the product MS DHONI is brand ambassador of TVS bikes, how many u have seen in Ranchi, but in west orissa u found 60% share in that particular division. PURE-IT water purifier got around 70 % share in two years with no BRAND AMBASSADOR

At least a person who understands the value of money is not influenced and may not even be aware of who the company is expanding money on to make it more expensive and of course for what good. And to this customer the same money having gone into product excellence makes much more sense.

Majority of consumers tend to make purchases as per their need, value additions & pricing. Brand ambassadors do help only in placing a particular product in a specified segment with some flashy attractions attached to it. Consumer may visit to have a look of it but mentioned intentions appeals him to purchase as per the needs & predeclared product.

It has been observed that celebrity endorsements are a powerful and useful tool that magnifies the image of a Brand but celebrities alone are not the major influencers;

Modern day consumer are well educated and smart, they know celebrities are being paid for these endorsements and this knowledge makes consumer rather more cynical about the product and endorsements. Majority of the consuming Population also knows what is advertising. so now days if customer is buying something they are evaluating product on each aspects

Most purchase actions are need based. But brand ambassadors help to promote the brand. Whether or not brand ambassadors promote the product depends on type of product.

majority of the products in the Indian market is need based.... there are examples of several brands which are failed in the market even influenced by ambassadors..

this is true in major cases aspointed by Mr. Bhave as there are examples of many brands which have been sucssessful without using brand ambassadors like Raymonds which bhave ben able to gain a large chunk of market share, and nowadays ppl are more aware of the marketing gimmicks and now would buy that product only if its having Value for Money for the comsumer

Brand ambassadors may work for a few product lines such as vanity products. They do not work for most other product lines and thus brand ambassadors have very limited utility.

Brand abassador doesnt "Help" us in buying a product but they "Bias/ compell" us to buy a product that we dont really need..

For me it does'nt.I buy product according to my needs and preference.But if we think of mass then somewhat its not true.because still teenager generation is being influenced by the celebrities who are endorsing products.They try to buy or use those shampoo or cosmetics which are being endorsed by susmita sen or katrina so on and so forth.

thou initially there was a time when people used to go behind the celebrities

now people have grown more aware and educated bout the products and their needs and they have understood the fact that most of the celebrities would just choose their product based on who pays them the highest rather than which is the best product,people are starting to understand the fact that,THE AMBASSADORS OF THAT PARTICULAR PRODUCT,THEMSELVES DON'T USE THAT PRODUCT

if we talk about the price sensitive people ,they will purchase the product which suits to their pocket and need, irrespective of the brand ambassadors .

being a consumer ,my purchases doesn't rely on brand ambassadors!!!!
