There is a new war errupting at workplace, we may call this a Mommy & Daddy war.......
Data has been found that approximately 40% of professional women are childless at age 40. Despite the increase of family-friendly policies in many workplaces.  But now, more and more men are finding themselves in the same position. Recent survey data from the Centre for Work-Life Policy show that at age 40, 31% of professional men are childless.

The decision not to have children might make some sense for unemployed or underprivileged men. But what about well-paid guys with solid jobs that haven’t been eliminated by the “mancession?” Are they choosing not to have children? Or are they reacting to a creeping non-choice dictated by the demands of increased hours and responsibilities and amplified by recession-anxiety?
Do you think Employees get special treatment at workplace for employees who have children? Do share your views on this..

I think yes, I have seen this in my organizations, and have heard where many of my friends face the same issue in fact, childless men feel that colleagues with children get special treatment in the workplace, a considerable childless male professionals agree that colleagues with children are given more latitude and the flexibility, and also many employees who don't have children agree with the statement “my personal commitments are perceived to be less important than those of colleagues with children.” Professionals without children are 60% more likely than professionals with children to think their colleagues are judgmental about their personal lives.

Diya, Thanks for a nice topic, But I want to dis agree with you. Is your statitics related to India. I dont think that employees get special treatement in office for those who have kids. It is not at all a matter of discussion or to givr some leniency in a true proffessional office set up

That's the best thing an organisation can do, CSR (The Corporate Social Responsibilities) are an eye wash & window dressing done more or less too fulfill an obligation to show cause the activity by an organisation.

yes they do get special treatment but sometimes it is required as children bring lots of responsibilities  which have to be fulfilled so  if the organisation has to take care of their employees it is required they give them time to fulfill these responsibilities.

As far as my personal experience is concerned, it is correct .

Surely, employees who have children, are getting some concession. i.e. 1/2 day

leave, concession for some time to attend the school meeting etc.

Thanks,Diya,This piece of information may make head lines not now but after a decades or so.If you read between the lines, the gene moderation is taking place and person bussy at work places are opting to have children but later dates. This knowingly or unknowingly, the person with no children have turned nelson's eye that they are being ignored though, this is not the case.EQ in the organization helps the person with children to support them purely  on humanitarian grounds and not other reasons. In government jos, husbands and wives are availing maternity leave ,so this is  just a gesture to help grow employee's family and expect dedicated work from them in return.

I dont think any such concessions are given either for males or females as far organisations are concerned.  The stock reply people get when they plead for leniency on account of their obligation to their children is choose career or profession.
