The brand rating of the three local tech majors - Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys Technologies and Wipro — fell in 2010. TCS’ rating dipped from AA+ in 2009 to A last year, Infosys’ from AA- to A and Wipro’s from AA+ to A+. This is unlike their overseas counterparts like IBM and Accenture in the developed market, which have rigorously built their brands by pumping in large proportion of their profits into it. Is this downfall because they are not investing enough in their branding?

Yes iam accepting with the argument. Our local farms need to concentrate on the Brand value. At the same time they concentrate on the quality of work and the best practices. and best human resources.

No they are doing good enough and there are factors other than branding which have palyed a role in downfall such as underperformance in terms of number of intellectual properties (IPs), R&D spend, customer investment philosophy, ability to drive mindshare.

your views are right at some extent but in my view sunrise industries are doing good job in terms of value but there is a huge difference between brand value&brand sales coz market size is based on figures varies too much.

The dot com boom and their sky rocketing growth has made these companies complacent. Branding is a continuous process and the ones at the top have to make more efforts to retain that position. Companies that dont invest in branding will eventually struggle to retain that position.

Yes, to some extent, as the "big" deals are closed more or less with the 'giant' IT firms and not local IT firms.

These companies are people intensive. They should invest much more on employee retention, morale, welfare, etc. A satisfied employee would take pride in belonging to the organization and would subsequently go on spreading the good image of the company and increase its branding in a quiet manner without much advertising fanfare. That's the kind of branding such organization should look at. Employees should be saying, Yes I am proud to be working for ........

Nowadays there are a lot of Mdes, graduates in design, Masters and PG's in design passing out in india and i don't agree if one would say "i don't find a perfect person to think about my company/firm's brands and values"..one can easily hire less exensive freelancers to work with it, i believe it does not matter if ur getting ur work done by a fresher, ideas can flow from freshers too.

Yes. International Patenting is costly, and the IPR payouts and royalties are very exorbitant. If they were to be in race, obviously, they would not indulge in heavy payouts in order to generate branding quotient!

Our three IT biggies have not differentiated themselves in terms of services they offer or their strengths. They are mere clones of each other. They have to realise that they should invest in their brand. Otherwise long time survival will be a question.

No, it doesnt mean that they are doing less branding.I agree with Ms.sujatha said but Apart from i wold like to add some more important point that today's people or consumer are giving more preference to International brand or MNC company. Perception factor toward MNC company not because of they are doing more branding but they feel MNC product is quality as compared to domestic.Other many factor internal-external are effect.
