Although in todays world female employees are competent and are able to achieve higher positions like male employees, the success female employees get is not appreciated or accepted like that of males

Yes males do feel "problems" if the boss is female. Not only boss sometimes even when the subordinate is a lady. But not all face problems.

One reason behind this in India, and I want all to really comment on that, is that the men here have got no or very low exposure to ladies (other than those in their homes). They feel shy and awkward and thus not able to communicate properly. Other things like ego, machoism etc either come later or are used to hide the shyness.

Quoting my  personal case, I dont feel inferior to work under a female boss. In a career spanning ten long years, I have worked under atleast 3 female bosses. believe me, I had issues with only one since she was incompetent. Other two were like true managers. Why to hurt the ego, if you can learn from others even if your boss is a lady ???

Thats true, I completely agree by what Vivek says, this is India. There is no ego attached here, so pls get me right. In a conservative society like India it gets a bit tough to work female boss/colleagues/subordinates, I am ofcourse dealing and living with it.

Yes they do !!!!

I have seen many male employee feeling very uncomfortable working an female employer. Even this is the case in my office. I have few subordinates under me in that few are males but they don't convey their views properly compared to the females.

So that is true .......   :)

this yes is not all about standing by the statement however i feel female bosses (AVG) most of the time never try to understand the problem and feel  either hyper or arrogant when some thing happen unusual. i have seen it many a times that female bosses react very rudely to someone if the dilogue going on gender part. they always mix their professional life and personnal life and talk in the same fashion with others.

Most men get envy when their female bosses gets more attention from others. And most men doesn't seems to overcome communicative responses or gaps with the female counterparts. But the fact is -

Boss remains the boss! And yes, few might face problems.

Solution - Be competent, communicate effectively and think like a woman sometimes!!

Cheers~

I personally feel that male employees feel very uncomfortable working under female bosses.this is mainly because men feel that women are inferior compared to men and a women dominating men hurts their ego.

I worked for both male and female bosses, and of the female ones there were nice persons and downright bitches. In my opinion, if some female boss is reputed as tough to work with, it is most probably because she is just that kind of person. Relating that with her sex is just offending for the rest of the honest and nice women.

When you are working somewhere the most important thing how you are, and not who is above you or below you. Be it a male or a female if we are positioned about our goal and work with full enthusiasm the gender factor should not come in between.

I completely agree with you Preetha. I myself have a female boss and have no problems. The most important is that the Boss should be like a real Boss, to whom you can look upon.

Whether the superior is male or female does not matter in work; what is important is the kind of competence is there with the person. As a female middle manager I like to work with both male and female subordinates and have the opinion that a male or female can get support from their other counterpart based on their individual professional and personal values.........

Hey this is an intresting topic working under female boss is not at al a problem so far as you are thinking she is your BOSS, irespective of the gender bias.

A female can't be accepted as inferior in this current scenarios ,where in top MNC and other big behemoth firms where Woman are leading i.e - Chanda kohar,Krian Majumdar and Indira Nooyi of Pepsico and a lot to name .

Working under a lady boss is alwys enjoyable as long as you like your job and perform your duties .

In work nothing else matters except the work. Whether the superior is male or female does not matter; it only matters what sort of guidance, leadership and competence is available from that person.

I don't think so. I have been a supervisor/manager for the last 15 years and I did not encounter any problems with my males subordinates. In fact they were more cooperative than the females. However, as a junior I never got along with a female boss for all the wrong reasons. It had nothing to do with the work but more on a personal level.

Ego of male employees is hurt because of their female boss's success story?

                                       OR

Ego of female employee gets a booster shot because of male employees working under her?

I don't know if employees work for an organization to calculate supremacy.......Do we?

Ultimately the battle is for the company........it's a ABHIMAN film or a Company?

well, i agree with sumit....

in my opinion manager is a manager.... be it be male  or  female AND if he/she is competent enough in handling work related issues, i never had a problem.

personally, i had worked with 3 female managers and actually found 2 of them  better than their male counterparts.... may be it might depend on individuals but i consider myself lucky there !!!

so discrimination based on gender should not be bothering us in our professional life.......

If a person Feels inferior that just means that the person is not at all open. A lady being his boss just means that she has more caliber and qualifications than him. There is no need for someone to feel inferior. I have worked under female managers, and i feel that they really manage the time well and listen. They do not take hurried up decision and they are right on that.

Well, if a person feels inferior, then i can just say that he has too much of a Male ego. Male ego is but obvious in guys, but too much is too much. Female managers are just as good as male and we should not be discriminating them based on gender.
