Though I support 'Yes' but there can't be a straight YES or NO answer of this question..Quality always depends upon the manufacturer's objectives, commitment to customers, ethics and so on You can't generalise it because at time you can find quality products at low cost and at another time you may get low quality even after spending a lot. But organised and top of the line retailers have more or less maintained good quality in their private labels.

It is not necessary that the private brands don't ensure quality. There are many private brands which have still maintained their quality. These brands have a good reputation in the industry. So, I agree with the fact that private labels ensure quality.

Private label brands are made with good quality, since the brand innovator needs his or her product to be reach every one with good quality. each product done by them are quality concerned and mainly the testing standards.

we need to look as to why in the first place we need private labels or own brands, we need to them to have better margins when compared to the brand leaders, but at the same time we need to be carefull as we cannot enter in private labels in all categories. Also we need to check the quality as we need to maintain the standards as we will be giving the label our brand name. At the same time what I found in many stores of leading retailers during my recent visit to India was that they were only trying to promote their labesl but not displaying the brand leaders. Let us know for a fact that we need to have both of them to improve our labels. an example was In MORE super market in visakhapatnam they dont have Britannia Biscuts of Multi grain or other variants but they have their labels only when asked they say that instructions from HQ. I personally think there are chances that customers will shy away as you cant thrust some thing on the customers if they dont want to try.

I also Thoroughlu believe Private Brands do take the Quality issue more strongly as they have to build thier Brand Name Stronger in market and they know our consumers right now are the one who generally go for the quality product rather than Brand name product. They go through their Quality Check Standards

Can't generalize. Depends on the product, the motive of the company and the scale of distribution. Some retail products are also good. We see..we judge..we buy. Private/ retail or any other matters least. If the goods are good, then there is a market for it. Thanks for referring @Purvi!

I dont agree with you...now days people believe in private label only bcos it ensures the more quality than the locally sold products.for example if you take vegetables sold in the local market compared to the reliance fresh market.not only for vegetables it goes many product.people believe in brand only.label specifies the product..

Every brand in this country require periodical monitoring from the apolitical organisations who constantly work for the betterment of humanity. Every brand should come forward to this concept. Like in international trading, we have SGS inspection is the widely accepted phenomenon, we should also develop one other than ISI and ISO both are good in paper work, nothing more nothing less.

Quality is only ensured by a Manufacturer's commitment to make sure that its PRODUCT/BRAND always confirms to the initially planned attributes like Quality / Packaging. At time's manufacturer's reposition their PRODUCT/BRAND without communicating to the consumers. This consumer may regard as lackluster quality management. In other cases the Product itself may have deteriorated from its initial batches due to lack of quality confirmation SOP for production batches. To sum up , no brand can ensure you quality for life. But who ever does for the period couple with a good marketing mix will always find consumers.

No, Private Label Brands do not ensure Quality. However, healthy competiotion does that for sure... EXample, if there are private label brands in market, and there is no competiotion*less no. of players), there would still be pseudo monopoly and quality for sure ain't guaranteed.

Private levels are are always considered and promoted as a value proposition . So focus is more on keeping the price lower and delivering the functional value . Aspirational customers are more inclined to purchase these product .

Puravi though I agree with your statement but if you go in to depth you will find most of the well known brands are being manufactured by the vendors of these non branded items.

no I don't believe that private lable brands stand up to the quality expectations. Just to fight with the manufacturer brands retailers bring in their brands that are very low in quality.
