We hear of end of the season sale every next month. We get offers like buy get three and upto 51% discount time and again. Still we go and visit the shops to see if there is something we can buy. Normally people end up buying things which don't last long or things which are of no use to them. Still the concept of adding the word Sale and Discount works well. If they give 50% discount and still they earn profit what is the actual price of that object!! No one knows and few care. So, Do you think just addition of word "sale" really helps the brand to flourish in the market?

It is a great opportunity for us to purchase and judge the brand. If it works out well we can stick to it. (The brand loyal concept). If it does not work well, we look for other options. To add to this we are still not ready to spend all our fortune on all those costly things but if we get it for less, we surely will.

Where upto brands are concerned they are more interesting in selling out their products and make profit out of it. The brand flourishing part happens on its own because if the product gives comfort we always go for it. And once the brand loyality is established in the customer he himself spreads it , promotes it and the process goes on and on.

It helps to reach the maximum numbers of target customer...but success of a brand also depend upon other factors like customer experience with product, after sale service etc...

Yes up to some level only and beyond that it will not work since the comparison of quality, durability, and service with that of competitors in the market will arise.Today the consumers can not be made fools through sheer discounts.Moreover the market segment is divided as there are customer base for different type of products in the similar categories.

Blame it on the Great Indian Mentality to bragain. Be it the subji wala or the corporate honcho, bargaining is in our blood and we are always on the lookout for discounts and offers.

Sales and Discounts helping brand in increasing their slaes is a topic which is exhaustive as it depends upon the category of the products that are being offerred on discount.As Meen says customers will shift their brand just becuase the next brand is giving discounts, if it si a sensitive category or where the customer feels he or she is attached to the brand but if it suppose a category of floor cleaners yes here customers will tend to shift rather than thinking of brand loyality which is very high say in the case of elctronics or skin care etc.

I agree with you partially Meena. The Sales Brands or the Brands who they are in Sale all through the year actually becomes Lables instead of Brand. There are many. take the example of Koutons they have now no more a Brand and sales are going down steadily.

the Sales helps some time not always.

end of season sale will help the brand to liquidate there old stocks and bcos of discount it may reach more people, and get good advertisement from that, company can go for new advanced manufacturing and create a brand, every year they can improve.

People know what is where.

For example, Lenova Laptop priced KD 80 and with discount of KD 5. So the price is KD 75. Now , the same Laptop priced KD 109 and comes with a discount for KD85. NOW, YOU SEE THE SALES PROMOTION. They try to flourish but, buyers are aware of it. So find no customer to be sold.

Where is discount sale is not discount in their profit but cheating only discounted.You know the manufacture price is ever less than sale price but dealer adds profit+transportation charge+packing charge+rent of shop+elec and tele bill+servant pay +all taxes so naturally sale price goes high.The past time there was profit was limited 1% of sale price at present that rules is vanished.

Meena the simple economic theory is whenever the need / necessity arises the so called discount has nothing for the buyer. Even it is true to some extent true taking in to consideration the present market scenario, it cannot b said firmly that it has direct relation whenever selling takes place
