PUSH in the literal sense means to propel a person, material or thing with force in a direction of choice! What is important here is the DIRECTION OF CHOICE!! Unless you are not passionate about selling you will never be able to understand the need to propel in the DIRECTION OF CHOICE!! If by using unconventional or conventional methods a person achieves a SALE, it is primarily because he never gave up hope of getting a SALE. That is being PUSHY! Push yourself to the extent where you have exhausted your thoughts and innovations to CONVINCE a body to BUY. Here pushy does not mean forcing or literally jostling a person to buy. Here the word pushy means to push one's own self to make the person opposite to BUY!! If you are not passionate about the selling that you are doing, you need not be in SALES at all!! By default a Sales Person is indeed PUSHY!

The Sales person need to understand the requirement of the customer & then have to deliver his product/service accordingly. Without knowing the need if he want to push, there will be a wrong selling & that will be bad for the sales person in future because he will loose the customer. How to deliver your product/service in accordance to the need of the customer is the biggest performance measurement of the sales person.

It is necessary for sales people to be pushy when they are selling to the intermediaries in a retail environment where there is no pull for the product. The product therefore moves entirely by push and your brand is then at the (mercy) of the retailer, who pushes the brand he had most stocks of. This is clearly seen in the condoms market, where the vast majority of consumers do not exhibit brand preference and what sells is what the retailer is pushing. You need to be pushy to ensure that the retailer has your brand in sufficient quantities to make him push your brand over others!

No,the sales person should not be pushy because at the time when your trying to sale a product it is necessary to know the need of product in the mind of customer and a sales person should focus on that

The trainee sales force need some sort of push up to some extent in the learning process. On the contrary the sales forces are being pushed to achieve the sales target fixed by the company. This is not a healthy trend since the company aim is to achieve the target by cook or crook. Achieving the sales depends upon the products quality, the consumer acceptance, and the market share for the products among other competitors. What is the input will be the output and certain companies will not give the proper input or support to the sales forces but will insist for the output ie the sales. Under the circumstances the sales forces can not do anything and they are not magicians to bring results. Here of course the pushing is there and one fine morning the sales people may leave the company on account of sales pressure from their immediate bosses. The normal growth rate in sales is maximum 15 to 30 percent depending upon the product strength which may be a reasonable one. Certain companies want vertical growth within a short span of period and they forget the other players in the market who will also be fighting from the same platform. Normally the sales pressure for achieving more sales target has been practiced by the low end products group companies whose aim is to skim the cream immediately. They will not bother about ethical business standards and lacking corporate cultures. In view of the above, when there is a proper working environment all the trained sales forces are self-motivated to give growth to the company and they need not be pressurized or pushed to do sales and they know their responsibilities to achieve the optimum level of sales within a given sales environment.

No, never, sales person does not need pushy. He/she require both pully and pushy because sales is game. We have to walk by strategically.Otherwise, difficult to live as sales person.

In my opinion it is not necessary to push since the experienced people are only in sales to give growth for the company. Moreover the sales concept is almost similar for all types of products, provided the sales persons needs to learn about the product nature and its applications and also who are the customers that is required for those who are coming from different product portfolios. They need some induction or training program in the factory to know the production process and its technical nature. Then they will be able to sell/market.
