Well for all those who say yes..I have another question " How would you feel if one of your family member goes out and speaks non sense about your own family before the whole world? Would you allow it under the Fundamental Right of Freedom of Speech and Expression under Article 19(1) (a) of the Constitution of India. Well last time in Arundhati Roy vs. Union of India, Hon'ble Supreme Court in clear words held" Considering that the Contemnor is a woman, we order a day's token imprisonment and since she has enormous power and zeal to contribute to the development of this nation, we are not in a view to impose any harsh punishment on her" Does this mean that she has unbriddled right to say what she likes in the name of Freedom of Speech and Expression. The next question is ,how much do we think her to have respect for this country, when she has openly flouted the mercy shown by the Greatest temple of Justice stating that she has a lot of energy to contribute to The development of this nation. How dare she talks rubbish again and again about this Great nation. She is a lady author, her being a lady itself implies generosity, kindness and woman power which can create a great nation. A great leader said: For a great nation, we need great mothers,we need great women. Is this what is being portrayed by her in the name of citing social problems? what impression is she giving to foreign countries by her writing. If she doesnot know the meaning of greatness, It is a great doubt, if she being an author can highlight the problems in the Country and alleviate them to make this nation great. Next time I am in the chair Greatest temple, I will not let anyone degrade the greatness of this nation under the garb of Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution.

Yes Tina she is going mad about it. Being a responsible citizen she should make people to understand that they are first INDIANS then Hindus,Muslims,Christians & Sikhs. By considering all the facts & perceptions a good judgment has-been delivered by the Hon'ble court. Rather going thro' the judgment in detail, commenting abruptly is the madman sorry mad-women's job, it is nothing but to get attention & publicity to her, but she is getting negative publicity by her immature act. Better we ignore such crony's comments. It is good for her to think & act.

I support for yes. & Ms. Arundhati Roy always gave opposite reaction to all sensitive issues for just a matter of attention. & she really nothing to do with any issue because she is from such a class in which there is a fashion of talking against every govt related decision & issue. & these people are only chatter box & don't have any solution on any issue. That's all!

It is sad to see that India appears to be aping the USA and anything said about the excess of the state or the multinationals interests appears to invite some incredibly strange comments that would appear to mirror the Tea Party in USA, That indians appear to be so ill informed about their own country is sad but sadder still how popular prejudice becomes fact (perhaps reinforced by media) and facts are seen as seen as "talking against our nation!" no wonder there is an insurgency

Dear Tina, Have ever gone though her works? Please read her works. She never spoke of contrary issues. She is addressing the issues in right earnest. She need to be supported by journalists, humanists, intellectuals and anyone who is interested in the well being of the world. You may not agree with whatever she says. But you cannot say that she has no rights.

No. Do you know that in India 79.93% live with utter poverty with less than 2$ per day. Do you know that largest number of suicides happen in our country in the history of human kind- to the tune of 2,16,500 deaths in a decade? Do you know that largest number of women are killed in the name of same gotra or caste? Who is there to champion them? Press never bothered about them~ Except for people like Sainath of The Hindu ~ Politicians are busy looting the country and getting their perks ~ Judges quoting supreme court observation that some thing fundamentally wrong with functioning of a High Court. I these circumstances there is a lone fighter for the rights of people. Alone she is fighting for you, me and us. If people like her Binayak Sen are not these we will find India looted by People like Chidambaram with his clients such as Vedanta and you and I will be left in the world with nothing but just ruins of capitalistic overrun.
