Rajesh I think yes, using software for survey and road construction will help in saving time and energy. It will also reduce the usage of labor and make use of the raw material to its fullest. :)

As Mohd Baksh, pointed out , the site condition is very important. Merely, using a software for efficacies does not yield results/ expected outputs. The factors that dictates site condition is to be analysed throughly before using it . Because, software developed elsewhere, takes into account of details collected / visualized there. But, many a time, we find it does not cover what we need. Of course, it can be used to refine the results.Generally, business software is developed to reflect few parameters leaving few -saying insignificant. What is insignificant, may be significant to other geographical region. Data fed in it, does not comprise the whole gamut.

No. The ill effect of using software is detachment from site conditions. The software can be utilized to refine the results obtained from the site. However ,use of total station and working out CAD profile is helpful.

Yes software related surveys like total stations etc will help, but I think problem is the cost to be bear by the govt..and the administrative authorities like chairman , mayor may does not bother or concious about the field problems so they will not have enough interest to spend money for that.

And when we approached the authority they said there is no requirement and when we interact the field engineers they said this softwares are very much necessary. Still no progress.
