Yes we need qualified and efficient doctors but in the rural and govt. health sector and not in the private medical sector. There are enough doctors in private practice looting the patients and making merry of the socrates oath !

Doctors, despite taking the Hyppocratic oath, are only after money. They don't realise that they have to cure. They should be above taking sides, but they too are politically motivated and are not neutral.

The case point is we have to rediscover our ancient form of alternative medicenelike Homeopathy and AYURVEDA & SIDDHA Which has no side effects;atpresent the Medical lobbyist is against alternative system of medicene which reflects innot even acknowledged by MEDICAL iNSURANCE iNDUSTRY IRDA which does not allow Naturopathy etc.Which are cost effective and reasonably affordable compared to Allopathic. So we need more of Well Qualified Homeo Doctors, and Ayurvedacharya of repute for the practioners of Ayurveda and Siddha and Naturopath of duly Qualified and certified by a Central Govt. approved Indian Alternative Medicene Board similar to the kind of Registered Medical Practioners,no quacks or semi qualiufied Doctors to be allowed;and also the Govt should promote more of Budget Hospitals rather than the kind we seenow with lot of Hospitals coming which beyond the reach of common man unless he is is having a medical insurance ,which is also becoming costlier day by day because of claim ratio exceeding the premium collected by the Insurance Industry In Medical Health Insurance.

A vague question. I believe you r not referring to Dr. Jayalalitha, Dr.Rajkumar or even proposed Dr. Tendulkar(who humbly refused) :-D We actually need more of good/efficient doctors, but even then the problem doesnt solve, as no good doctors will be willing to work at the grass root level where the health care penetration is V Poor. My affiliated hospital has initiated a novel way of circumventing it, it has embarked on recruiting teachers or educated anganwadi workers (as these people will be in direct touch with the grass root level) who are now trained to screen patients with basic tools and identify disease symptoms and using technology relate it to Doctors (G/E) sitting pretty in Cities (with a noble inclination to help the needy but not able to provide the practical/physical intervention or help by being there at rural areas). It has been kick started in Dharmapuri dist in TN and few other places are getting trained. Such initiatives can also do a great deal in bringing/ providing better health care to the majority masses of India. Even Govt. should also consider providing tax holidays for institutions participating in such ventures like they provided for IT industries. THis will bring down the health care costs drastically to reach even the poorest of poor.

There are many reasons for it. Like percentage of dying in India due to disease rather than other factor is going to top in order to world. as a news few days back, India is as low as no 1 doctor for every 1000 people.

People dying from simple sicknesses that can be fixed with just minimal medical assistance is one of the worst things to watch.
A big illness in our society is AIDS. There are few people that have the ability as well as the education required to help find a cure for this terrible disease. Not only is it life-threatening, it is very painful to go through. I've seen people in their last days suffering through this disease just so they can someday see the light once again.
Another terrible disease that hits our country is cancer. Though many people survive it, it is still a very hard illness to deal with, but hopefully someday students that get the right education will find a cure.
We are also in need of more nurses. In poor and third world countries, health care is something rare. It pains me as well to see people struggle to survive after catching just a common cold. Even people that have a broken bone can face difficulties. In the Western world, a simple broken finger can be fixed easily, but over in Asia,Africa they might never get to see anyone with knowledge and thus it will never heal correctly
so we need more doctors...

Do we need doctors? Why do we need doctors? From age zero to 20 I needed no doctor, I suffered from Jaundice and chicken pox at the age of 14 15 years, I did not visit any doctor. People may say you are lucky, it’s not about luck or grace of God, or genes Its simply bio rhythm. No matter who you are, where you are, follow it, Everyone will live fit and fine. If the Bio rhythm is maintained regardless where you are, which age group you belong to or profession, business, social service etc, We need the means, the knowledge, and follow the process A society which needs more doctors is under super stress, be it whatever. Is it the qualification that can make a person “good” doctor? In down south money can buy a certificate, vis a vis the person is well connected as they have money, so is “good”, has a certificate, so he/ she is a good qualified doctor. Agree.... ?

Summarily, in India, doctors are aplenty. What is needed is more hospitals, mainly in countrysides. Personal/ Family doctor systems have failed, like any other professions, because ethics no longer exists in our country in any matter. Government can control and exercise vigil on few hospitals but controlling thousands of unethical doctors are difficult. Moreover, people can get all facilities in one single place, and do not have to run with patients from one laboratory to another.

more doctors?? No, we dont need more doctors as doctors at present are inefficient, dont have much knowledge and expect only money. If all the doctors became efficient prompt and doesnt expect more money, then doctors can improve public health with a minimum cost. Also they should have the knowledge of pharmacovigilance so that they can help the manufacturers to bring efficient medicine with less adverse effect to the market.

No, the maximum doctors at present are inefficient. If these doctors became efficient and prompt without expecting more money, then we dont need much doctors. Also they should know what is pharmacovigilance, how it works and what are the benefits of this system. Then doctors with optimum numbers wil help to improve public health in minimum cost.

More No. of Doctors will not solve the problem but genuine professionals are required. People are making it to Doctors by any means when they are not gud in health but are they reaching out the genuine Doctors or the just Degree holders of MBBS or MD etc. They might have got into MBBS thru' some reserved quota and might also be passing marginally or by mugging up the books. Only Taking Degree or practice will not make a doctor, though it is necessary but not sufficient. Real Doctors need to be social by nature, challenging the health disorder, kind and sober to the patients and highly analytical to the diseases and response of body of the patients and there are many other things need to be taken into consideration for any medical treatment. But all these things are not seen in the Doctrs of today's age Also, in the city area or say Posh Area there are lot many Doctors but in the poor area there are not good Doctors. They should be posted (let it be Govt. or private hsopital) rotationally thru' out their entire practice (and not for initial few years of a fresh Doctors).

If the country's health policy , work policy , good scheams for pollution control, good nutrition ,health awarness & exercises, good R&D on medicines that are affordable with less side effects, scale at least one doctor and 2 to 3 nurses per village, population control and awarnesss program and moset of all efficient doctors with hygenic facilities with good ethical medical support providers would be the near to practical thought for good health of our country men number of doctors needed is not a scale that is going to solve our problems regards
