I am not targeting women..I too am a woman and am proud of being one but whenever I go through the discussions , the ideas and anything from anything I have a feeling like the gender ratio here too is low.. But when check on my acebook account wel. I saw very awesome pictures taken by a man which had some 3 likes and one comment and then I saw photograph of a women 21 likes and well some 40 "looking good" comments.. Gender-biasing isn't it!! Do you think that is why they feel to be more on such social networking sites than disscusing anything here?

I think so and I will respect anyone who comes and proves me wrong about it. :)
My point is perhaps clear and requires no explanation. :)

May be they don't have time to post,

OR

They like other social websites which gives them the required break from work &

refreshes them to go back for work.

Quite true and it all depends on one's own perception and the question of gender has very little role to play

You are right but then we cant only blame females for this, male's too are so much addicted to fb, and other social networking sites that they don't want to come here just because we have very serious discussions on current topics. Look its not only about a particular gender its about our over all mentality or psychology of viewing things. But it will be really good if more sensible people join here on toostep and contribute towards sharing their views and sharing what they are facing in their daily life, so that a wave of awareness will spread all over the nation and we might be able to solve many of our socioeconomic problems just like that, T&R

Women do respond very well to compliments and often fish for them. That is very common and should not be termed as showing off. Admiring a lady's appearance is passe and not necessarily an all-male preserve - so compliments and admiration recorded. Praising male attributes is an all-female domain and so the reactions never appear on forums. A serious discussion in a forum (professional or otherwise) requires like-minded, similarly focussed individuals to really get a rich outcome. But it is very difficult to prevent someone from being flippant or humorous. Women are quite passionate/touchy about some subjects - these are not apt to be discussed in a forum, but in a room filled with convival atmosphere where an amicable solution can be reached.

Its very wrong to classify them like this when they genuinely like to share and involve in discussions. This may be due to prejudice

In most of the cases, women are more serious in thier jobs than men are. Enjoing by "showing off in social networking site" is common for both sex.

From a pure technical approach, pictures speak louder then words. Not everyone likes to read.

Support your view shrikant. In addition ,Sarika,I would also like to suggest that ,the topic of discussion should not be gender specific. Its not only women who does it.Even Men also have similar tendency .It takes less effort and capability on our part to show off on social networking  than participating in serious mind blowing discussions on professional forum.
