Yes, in country like India where you never hire the skills, it indeed is a mandatory for all career aspirants to have a MBA Degree to achieve career goal. Degrees like MBA serves as a catalyst and companies feel proud to grab them rather than hiring the right attitude. As taken from the extracts of Oliver Kahf, who said "You can teach and hone skills to persons having the attitude to work and learn but you cannot teach one to harbor the right attitude"

I agree that drive is a vital element to success. However the combination of drive and knowledge will provide a much stronger opportunity. A person who relies on drive can be compared to a one armed paper hanger. With luck, the work will get done. However, the task will be much tougher and less fruitful since the worker does not know or understand the technical details of how to move from point A to point B.

Hi, Yes my opinion speaks it is necessary to have an MBA degree. I don't deny that people who are at managerial level they all posses the same degree. But, the way an MBA professional thinks is way ahead from others. If you have some query an MBA can handle the same query but in different way because 2years of learning teaches us Business in form of Education. Priyanka :-)

I fully agree that an MBA is a beneficial tool in my store of tools that I use on a daily basis. The exposure to a comprehensive business program allowed me as a student to be exposed to many more elements in the business world. In fact, I discovered many things in the world of business that I did not know existed. This knowledge and the cadre of people I studied with and for have allowed me to open my business and to keep it going for over 5 years (so far). As I gained experience to complement my education, I became more confident in my dealings with much larger global firms.

Hey all,
MBa degree is nothing but a career ladder. After completing your U.G degree, you need to work for a longer time to gain knowledge/ experience to get into a managerial position. But. being a MBA graduate from a reputed institution, you would have already gathered the required skill sets and knowledge base so that you are ready to hit the floor !!! Thus MBA degree is an added advantage in an individuals career ladder. He can climb the ladder fast than a non MBA!!

See,it is relative.Success is not synonymous with MBA but yes MBA from a reputed college really equips one in a better way to face career challenges. You can earn good and live a promising life in a professional environment. Now snap out of MBA from HARVARD/IIM/FMS-MBA from a B or a C grade institute can water down one's career plans.I am myself passing through lean patches because of this.MBA from a less-reputed institute can really lame your career with utter waste of time, money and energy. About 80% of institutes have depraved students by the lure of providing them MBA degrees. And such institutes have popularized ideologies that be an MBA and fuel your career. In Delhi along the lanes of Mathura road there are n number of such MBA institutes, they give distant learning MBA degree(SMU/PTU etc) which is of no avail and take 5-6 lacs of rupees for the same. One can do DLP MBA in 30000rs.And after such MBA degree you onerously get a job of 8000-14000rs/month,not more than that.Even a simple graduate earns more than this amount.Yes,this is the real naked statistics. Is such MBA worth after investing so much amount of money and time getting a pittance? So on a larger platform i dont think MBA is really required, you just need to be a good learner at the work place.

A person who has no inherent qualities of an entrepreneur or the basics of business needs an MBA. One who knows his/her goals and has the determination and passion to succeed does not need one

I believe that strong determination and zeal to work hard with an proper road map would take us to heights. MBA degree will give us basics and etiquette to lay the road, it is solely ones willingness which gives success and achieving goals. Having MBA Graduation doesn't help in achieving goals if there is no proper focus and interest.

Any degree for that matter is the ground on which you learn the basics. It does not make you successful. I would certainly hire a person who is a Non-Degree but demonstrates the ability to deliver either by experience or by theoritical knowledge waiting to be brought into practice. Business Acumen is the thing that I would look for and that all to it!

Views considering Career Many people waste their years in getting admission in top 10 MBA colleges, they keep on fighting to crack entrance test. Then if got admission, (considering) investment is made i.e. expense, say minimum 3lac in top college. after two year you might get 1st grade but when you realize that you are completely fresher. You have to start with zero in any field with the salary of max to max 20k so instead I think one should get first experience and then do MBA (various option available) if needed to get promotion for higher position.

Mr.Reji i agree that you need not have an MBA degree to achieve your career goal. A career goal can be anything and it is not necessary that it should somehow be related to skills and knowledge that an MBA course gives. But definitely MBA equips one with the knowledge of how to handle things,it gives you analytical power which can help in every profession to grow up the ladder. So it gives you some value addition for sure but not necessarily needed to achieve career goal.

MBA is not necessary to be successful in life. To become what he wants to be, one needs to have a strong determination, as where there is a will there is a way. MBA helps to create the footstep for you but ultimately it's the performance that matters.
With MBA one can start with some bonus points in hand in hand, without it one have to earn that, MBA will teach you some basic lessons but with experience you too can learn those.

As rightly said by Fazalur, MBA is nothing but the trend nowadays.. Students want to pursue MBA just because it gives a feeling of a brand.. What you learn is MBA is nothing but planning, execution, facing unavoidable situations, stress management, etc. These can be learned out of practice also..

MBA is not a criteria, it is just a trend, what you learn is not exactly important, it is all how you competently execute your job role is important. MBA will sure enhance your knowledge, but it is largely depending on the source from where you gain the MBA. There are various other area one has to concentrate towards the career progression than MBA.

No, I think you don't need an MBA to successful in your career. if you are under employment and you have a career goal to achieve a senior manager or higher position, you need to prove your capability for the position and out perform your colleagues who compete with you for the same career achievement. A field working experience with good management skills are the basic requirement for a managerial position. You can build your working experience along your career path.
