It all depends on who is calling and for what. IF it is an urgent message be it social or business, then an email would do bcos almost everyone has a smart phone to check mails instantly. If it is a leisure talk, then a phone call would be more that welcome. There is nothing like hearing your loved ones voice however far they might be.

Its about formal and informal communication. For posterity, email is better. Other mundane issues can be sorted out over phone! Harsh mail spoils relationship forever. A phone call in such pensive mood will iron out issues, and the other aggrieved party will be able to ventilate his feelings as it were, which could be controlled over consoling!

It depends actually... I prefer email when there are things to be stored such : - a list of directions from my senior, colleague, or client,
- a list of specifications from my vendor, senior, client, tax consultant, etc
- a document or group of documents
- a large amount of data, especially if technical
- some decision taken on an official subject
I also prefer emails where something is to be easily deleted - some deal offered for diet pills, lottery, exercise machine, etc. (I would've been upset if I got calls on these matters)
I prefer phone calls for immediate action -- like a call for meeting a deadline, sending or receiving a document or product. I also like a phone call (esp video phone call) from near and dear ones, if meeting face-to-face is not feasible.

Replies to email can be sent at your convenient time.Normally a person phones up when it is convenient to him. This need not necessarily be convenient to the other person.

Email should be preferred over phone calls. The reason is that we have the proof with all the information of date, time and about the matter for which main has been send…

An Email is always preferred as against Phone calls. An email does not offend / annoy the receiver besides having the conveniance of reading it / storing it for later. It does not disturb ones privacy.

E-mail is a record. E-mail can be read with clear mind. It can be replied conviniently. Phonecall may catch u when u r busy with another task which reduces the attention for the task. E-mail can be referred for verification or clarification.

In current scenario e-mail wins over a phone call as it can be considered as an instant evidence of the communications whenever required in future. Also both phone call & e-mail can be recorded in respective forms but it is easy to store an e-mail than a phone call recording now a days.

email is the best option rather than disturbing in between some work....mail can be used as a proof of the document too..but some times call is important than a email..

Definitely, for formal and official communication, written form is a must. Voice communication cannot be authenticated later, unless it is recorded. Also sometimes, the message is not clear when talked via phone. Written communication has advantage, that people think before writing. Many times telephonic talk is not fruitful, since people become emotional and say anything. Written communication is usually done in formal and standard language. It can also be printed, saved, archived for records. Before email, people used fax and registered post for written communication. So, phone calls are useful for informal talks, operational talks for immediate feedback. But for formal and official communication, use of written communication using email, fax and registered post is a must.

Yes, it depends on the kind of communication you required to make. If it is an official communication, it is better to generate on e-mail where evidence is required. If it is a personal communication, a phone call is more than enough

I prefer e-mail because it is cost effective and attractive way of communication in written form while in case of phone you may face difficulty in communication due to absence of clarity in voice and network problem also.

Email has more features than a phone call. Both these things have different utilities. For immediate and short talks phone is the only answer. But E mail has multi features like sending detailed reports, attaching letters, documents, pictures and even videos, therefore both have different roles but email definitely has an edge over phone calls. It can be kept as an evidence also as what whas the content of conversation.

An email can be gone through at the addressed persons liesure and naturally it will get better attention, whereas the phone call may come at a time the person is busy with his business/occupation and may not be able to give full attention to the talk.

hai, since we are in a busy world,an email makes us to see the Specific product Ads or its features in a relax mood. And even it makes us to take wise decision too rather than in a hurry mood,by phone calls. Some time people wont attend those Ad calls nor from any tele-sales people. So for the present and coming generation people would always prefer email.

Any kind of persistent information serves good officially...as we can refer to them at any point of time (specially in cases of conflict). So, if we start persisting telephonic conversations and have ways to tag them, archive them then nothing like that. Till the time we are able to achieve that for telephones, I would like to stick to emails for record...!

Dropping a mail is a better option than calling...thats why am registered at DND registry...atleast I dont have to listen to someone when am in the middle of something very imp - it could even be relieving myself from all the tension i underwent in the boardroom...

Phone call may interrupt you any time, even though you are not in a position to receive the call. It disturbs a lot. Whereas Email can be checked at your own convenient, without any kind of disturbances. But, in-case of emergency a phone call is preferable. Most of the time phone calls are informal, whereas Emails are mostly formal and can be checked and rechecked before sending it to the receiver. But phone call is spontaneous, where probability of making mistake is more.

I think an Email is better.....and a phone call would be a lot of intrusive kind of a thing everytime, if a mail is dropped then one can easily check at a proper time and phone call would make things difficult for that person, how manytimes will a person receive calls for each and everything. So Email would be better as one can properly go through it and come to a proper conclusion than over a phone where one might miss something while they are communicating. So an Email is a better option than a phone call, but I know that many would not agree with me on this..
