For a long time search has been about you and nothing but you.  When you go to Google, Bing, Ask or any of the other search engines they only take into account what you, and you alone, are concerned with.  Type in a keyword or two, or three and the results returned will be based pretty much on that scant amount of text.

All that is about to change. Both Google and Bing are starting to develop ways to make your social context influence the results you are sent. Social context is a fancy way of saying your friends, family and the virtual acquaintances you pay attention to online.

What do you think people, Is the future of search is social??

Yes the future of search is Social, and if you look at today's consumer web, by and large up to this point the search experience is designed as if you are the only person on the planet.  That helps to explain, why the results people get back when they type a few words into a search box are far from what that person was really looking for.

What this reveals, is the importance of subjectivity in search.  A search result can be good for you but for others it might not be relevant at all, take an example; take the search terms "cheap running shoes". "The perfect answer depends on your income level". So future of search will be social which will take your likes and dislikes and all other instances before showing  you the relevant results....

Eventually every search service is going to include social aspects. The recent partnership between 2 new search services blekko.com and duckduckgo.com (don't think about its weird name)to combine their efforts for more specialized and spam free search is a challenge to google and others. These new search engines are growing very fast serving more than a million queries in a day.blekko is innovative with its use of /(slashtag) to limit search to specialized catagories and duckduckgo focuses on privacy of users. These 2 are making waves in silicon valley now. Google, yahoo and bing will be forced to upgrade for social search.

In today's world , everything has been commoditised & generalised, that in order to get any information u have to give most of the details to actually get to the relevant requirements what u actually need...sometimes unfortunately u don't get also.. hence Generalisation results in searches irrelevant to ur tastes...thus Social in nature..

We are falling in to well without knowing us. They are gathering more and more information from us. As the social search concerns, the software needs much more information about you and the designer of the software will know who you are exactly in terms of personal things like family members, income and other personal issues with the click of a button. I think there is something behind using this "social term". It may be their new hidden project to rule the world. we must know tortoise can only survive if it has shield to protect. otherwise an ant can be dangerous.
