Harmony, that's the word which is key to our future. What we have to know is not the Concept of Artificial life, the Purpose which can make it harmful or beneficial. If not for our efforts to understand the processes of nature, we could have been a failed species. Just like Humans became much more intelligent, which gave them evolutionary advantage, and ability to cope with the uncertainties of the nature. It made humans a successful mammals. Those who argue artificial life is bad, need to think that why did humans evolved into a more brainier and intelligent species?. One should understand that it was due to persistent and concerted efforts of our ancestors - the prehistoric man. And if we create an artificial life , we are totally going according to the law of nature, essentially we are using our intelligence, remember it is the survival of the fittest and competition to survive which lead to where we are today. Just by creating any form of artificial life we are not isolating it from competition which is a key modulator of evolution. Ignoring and suppressing the application of our intelligence would be against the rule of nature. If we dont use it for the Purpose of evolution we are going against nature. Life is not an accident, its a complex interplay of creative and destructive forces without understanding which our existence itself becomes meaningless.

The modeling philosophy of artificial life strongly differs from traditional modeling, by studying not only “life-as-we-know-it”, but also “life-as-it-might-be”.
In the first approach, a traditional model of a biological system will focus on capturing its most important parameters. In contrast, an artyificial life modeling approach will generally seek to decipher the most simple and general principles underlying life and implement them in a simulation. The simulation then offers the possibility to analyse new, different life-like systems.
To generalize this distinction to not just to the modeling of life, but to any process. This led to the more general distinction of "processes-as-we-know-them" and "processes-as-they-could-be"
At present, the commonly accepted definition of life does not consider any current artificial life simulations to be alive, and they do not constitute part of the evolutionary process of any ecosystem. However, different opinions about artificial life's potential have arisen:
* The strong artificial life position states that "life is a process which can be abstracted away from any particular medium".
* The weak artificial life position denies the possibility of generating a "living process" outside of a chemical solution. Its researchers try instead to simulate life processes to understand the underlying mechanics of biological phenomena.

How/ why I should not support developing " synthetic life cells " / Artificial Life by our scientists ? It is a marvelous atchievement and may be a bane for the mankind ? Science/ scientists may not wait for our signal .. they might go on discovering things. We may use these for betterment of living standard or eradication of diseases etc. -- if developed, such cells may eat away the excess 'carbons' present in the atmosphere .... (details awaited)

Artificial life is pushing limits of science to achieve greater things, to find solutions to our own existing problems, it is required to make our own understanding of the life and its processes better. so it is another step to solve the unknown processes and phenomenon, it is a step forward to solve the mysteries of life and and journey towards truth. Its great that such things are happening in our life time. donot be ignorant, dare to confront truth.

Doing the work honestly and perfectly is the real life and if any body do their duty honestly then they have to live in artificial life because we have many duty to do in life and time of life is very short, so do our duty more and more with honesty we have to accept artificial life, i.e nothing but real life.

myself being a microbiologist has always dealt with the codings and decodings of DNA the life molecule.I am in support of the artificial life from the scientific forefront for those who are unable to give birth to their offsprings and also facing the problem of infertility.I dont know how far this R&D will be supported in our country because of the infrastructure and eyhical issues but if human brain is capable of creating artificial life then it is beacause of their scientific acumen. It is not about being God but to enhance the creation of the God.Science and God has always been in the controversial forefront, but we should be able to develop a wide viewpoint rather than talking about census and population becasue if human can create artificial life then they will also find a rememdy to control it.I think it will be a boon for those parents who after trying hands with in vitro fertilization and other aspects will look forward to this for their future generation in the near future.

You called it as artificial. It may replicate the nature but cant replace it and it is also not permanent. Overly crowded globe may explode one day or other then what happens to the artificially prolonged lives. Let us believe in the nature and let the life too follow the natural order. Living beyond 70yrs., is useless for me. That which comes to the earth has to vanish one day or other. What is there in prolonging it. I dont believe in.

Actually it is not clear that upto what extent youwant to use aritficial life. For those who r handicapped, artificial immplants r very useful and will make them to live a better life. But if u meant for totally artificial life i.e.artificial brain like computers and everything artificial like robots which will reduce our workloads ,then i m totally against it as it will increase the chances of mishappening and accidents as artificial things may undergo malfunctioning and may stop working at any time. Moreover if the memory get feeds with viruses it may act against you and may threat your life.We know there r so many diseases with which a human suffers but artificial life is not going to solve it but it will increase it as you will be doing less work while using them , this will ultimatelly reduce your body stamina and power, immunity thereby reducing your life span. Moreover artificial lives will not have natural emotions which is the most wonderful part of a normal human life.

No.It is Good science has advanced but some things have to be controlled and not made public. These things can be used for betterment of humankind by using this for different purpose like growing limbs & giving good life to a handicapped person rather than creating artificial life and burdening our mother nature more.

no, i personally feel dat producin body parts like limbs n kidneys etc in labs through bioengineering for helping d diseased n deceased is okay both on humanitarian , ethical n moral grounds . but creating a new life in lab is way too much n we are interfering with the work of god.we've all seen d fate of DOLLY the genetically developed clone of goat dat died a few hours after its birth.gods work is 100% accurate n has no flaws in it however all our sciences are based upon suppositions and approximations . dats why whatever we do fires back at us in some way or d other .even the smallest of medications hv their sideeffects.in d same manner producing life in labs is destined to have sm adverse effect on our society n d human civilizatipon on d whole.

I don`t agree, if the number of death decrease, what will happen to the world? we are facing the problem of over population.so the concept of artificial life is not a secure way

No.Not at all. What is the life? If the absence of the breath diminishes this empire called life then where we stand? Artificial life is a curse which will always keep you under the fear of losing its glory. SO a life full of tension and worries and demanding all of our positive energies to wards it will definitely spoil the taste of the original life too.

Sariduniya ke insan jante aur mante hain ki her insan ko ek na ek din marna hai, phir chahe who kisi bhi religan ka ho,jab asli zindagi ka bharosa nahi hai too phir naqli zindagi too naqli hi hai. Jab bhi insan ne qudrat ke kamau me daqal diya hai tab tab sari insaniyat ko bahoot bade bade noksan uthane pade hain.
